Jeff -- No reason right now to think the Horns can't finish first. I will say this about Texas, and I think I said this last week, too, but Texas has an identity right now -- it knows who it is. And here's the other thing -- the Longhorns rank as one of the nation's top pitching staffs from an ERA standpoint. When you look at the personnel on the mound, that's actually pretty impressive to say the least, so credit Woody Williams and Chris Gordon on that side of things.

Is the Big 12’s wackiness so far this season more of a indicator that there are a handful of Omaha contenders or is it an indicator that there might not be one strong enough to truly separate themselves from the pack?

Brendan -- I think the Big 12 is a really solid league this year -- I don't think it's elite at the top. I don't think OSU is elite right now without one of its key stars in Nolan McLean, and Texas is just a really solid college baseball team. There aren't a lot of 'star power' pieces with that club - they just know who they are and win games. And guess what? there's nothing wrong with being that type of team.
