My wife was ******** over the phone Friday and I read your site to tune her out!  Love you guys!  Man, great series at the Love Shack this weekend!  I think Southern pitched fine.  Those guys 1-7 can just rake, especially in that park.  I know that Charlotte and ODU are good but the best two teams were in Ruston this weekend.  This Southern Miss team is young and not the most talented offensive club but why do I feel like Southern Miss has a shot to do something big this year?  Are you concerned about Techs arms?  I can’t believe they pitched some of those guys back to back??????  Cheers boys.

First of all, always remember happy wife means a happy life. Put that one in your back pocket. Secondly, I do like what Tech has on the front-end with Jennings and Fincher, but Burroughs admitted to me a while back that they didn't have tons of pitching depth. They will have to win the first two games of a regional to win the regional IMO. I don't see this being a team that storms out of the loser's bracket.

Can more than one team from the Valley make a regional? Or is it just Indiana State?

The MVC would need Bradley or Missouri State to go on quite a run to make that happen Those are the only two teams with RPIs remotely in position to make the tournament.

With the SEC conference schedule at the midpoint, HALF of the teams are within two games of first place. Who would be your pick right now? Vandy (MSU, @UF, @OM) and Arkansas (@USC, @UT, UF) seem to have the hardest remaining schedules, while UT gets nine straight games against A&M, Kentucky & Mizzou.

Boy, you make a great point there -- the schedule does seem to be lining up favorably for the Volunteers. And when they face Arkansas, it's in Knoxville. Biggest road test is at South Carolina the last weekend. Hmm... I'm not ready to make a pick today, but your analysis provides food for thought.

What do you make of Fairfield being 20-0? Obviously very weak MAAC schedule but undefeated is undefeated.. Have had fun watching them this year.. Do they have leeway to lose a couple (say, finish 34-2, 33-3 etc) and still get an at-large?
Kendall Rogers

Greenwich -- If Fairfield goes 34-2 or 33-3, I would be pissed if they didn't get an at-large bid. that's a cool story and that would certainly warrant being included in the postseason given the schedule structure this year. Our Eric Sorenson will be out there this weekend to see the Stags.

If LSU finishes with a 12-18 SEC record but Top 25 RPI, do you see them sneaking in as a 3-seed somewhere? Assuming 12-18 gets them into Hoover.

I don't see LSU making the NCAA tournament with a 12-18 record. I do think if it can get to 14-16, it becomes much more attainable. Tough to see the Tigers getting to that point, though. We'll see.

How lenient do you think administrators will be for coaches struggling in their first 2-4 years? I know this is a very odd time for college baseball but there's a ton of traditionally competitive teams struggling mightily this year. LMU & St. Mary's both come to mind with coaches in their 2nd year that just aren't very good this year.

Yeah I have to imagine ADs will have long leashes with newish coaches given the seismic upheaval all these teams have had to cope with due to COVID. I think both those programs have the right coach in place, and I suspect their administrations feel similarly.

What does Virginia need to do in your opinion to make the NCAA tournament? How did this weekend affect their chances?

You know, I still think there's a viable path for UVa. If the Cavs can win three of their last four series, I think they've got a shot. And they've got three very winnable series left (vs. Duke, vs. Wake, at BC), plus a rivalry series at Virginia Tech that is always a competitive weekend. Don't bury Virginia yet.

OK gang, we've got a conference call getting started, so time to quit for today. Thanks as always, see you next week!

Do you think Arkansas has finally found it’s weekend rotation in Wicklander, Palette, and Lockhart?  Love that Wick had a strong performance this weekend. Possibly the best he’s looked in his college career.  Also, do you think Arkansas will start to cut down on the number of guys it uses out of the bullpen or keep using a Bajillion pitchers to keep people fresh?

Siege -- I think. Wicklander and Pallette have been strong for the most part as of late, and Lockhart doesn't have electric stuff, but he's one of those 'what you see is what you get' type of pitchers. He can bridge you that gap from 1-4/5 innings, and then allow you to turn things over to the bullpen.
