The proof is in the pudding at the end of the year, but the ACC definitely seems to have more potential contenders top to bottom. I still like the top teams in the SEC much better, but in terms of the whole enchilada? I like the ACC more right now. We'll see how the rest of the season progresses, though. Things could change.

With Two weeks of pac-12 play down, besides the inconsistencies of Stanford, what are the biggest surprises you have seen so far?
Kendall Rogers
1:35
Andy -- I haven't seen too many surprises in the Pac 12 so far. I'd say USC is ahead of schedule, ASU is worse off than I thought it would be, and I think Oregon is better than I thought it would be. I still have questions about UO's pitching staff, but there's no doubt the Ducks can really, really hit, which is the Waz way. I'd probably have Oregon as my third Pac team right now, along with Stanford. It's close between those two with UCLA right after that -- in my pecking order, at least.

Any thoughts on Texas State? I'm an alum and randomly came across the rankings earlier and somewhat shocked they're in the Top 25.
Kendall Rogers
1:37
Guest -- Steven Trout has done a terrific job with this team. The Bobcats are very very old and have had a lot of reps, which shows in their offensive approach, mental stability and success on the mound. Dalton Shuffield and John Wuthrich are big pieces offensively, while Zeke Wood and Tristan Stivors headline the pitching staff. I am still not sure Texas State has a super regional-esque weekend rotation outside of Wood, but this is still a very strong club.

How far is the gap from #1 to #10?
Kendall Rogers
1:39
Burnt -- not substantial at all. We discussed this on our weekend podcast on Thursday, but I feel like the race for No. 1 is absolutely wide open right now. Sure, I 'love' the teams in the top five, but Virginia, for instance, is at No. 10. The Cavaliers could be as good as any of those teams. Even the teams in the 10-15 range are strong in my eyes. That sets the stage for what should be an insanely fun postseason in late May and June.

why is Tennessee not ranked higher? I thought they would be number 1 this week and i am an Ole Miss fan.
Kendall Rogers
1:44
Wayne -- Tennessee is in a good spot. I actually love the Vols right now, and they might just be the most balanced team in the top five. However, they control their own destiny this weekend against Ole Miss. Win that series and they'll definitely move to the No. 1 spot next week. It's in their grasp. I've been so impressed with their offensive prowess and depth, along with those two freshmen in the rotation. Heck, transfer Chase Dollander had a strong outing over the weekend, too. Tennessee is rolling right now and we will see if it continues in Oxford.

What are your thoughts on DBU as of late with winning big key series & having #1 RPI and #1 SOS? How close to Top 25 are they?
Kendall Rogers
1:46
Jeffrey -- This is pretty much what I expected from Dallas Baptist coming into the season. It's a big reason why the Patriots were ranked. With that said, they've got an odd resume. They've definitely lost some midweek games, but they now have series wins over Sam Houston, San Diego, Southern Miss and now ORU on the road. That's a solid, solid slate of games. No surprise here on the Pats, and that's with Jace Grady still not raking just yet.

Glad my Dawgs came to play on Sunday against Georgia.  I sure would like to know what we need to do to host one of them regionals.  What you think about my boys hosting as a two seed?  Thanks again brother.  Go Dawgs
Kendall Rogers
1:50
Harry -- They are probably not hosting as a two seed unless there's a mid-major that pops that doesn't have the facility to host. And right now, I don't see one of those programs. With that said, I was actually encouraged by the way MSU played in the finale game against Georgia. the first two games were pretty ugly, but the offense went buck wild in the finale. Perhaps that's a win that helps this team put all the pieces together?

Jake Gelof has been season changing so far for UVA. How do you compare his impact on Uva to other contributors around the country? Front runner for Golden Spikes?
Kendall Rogers
1:53
Guest -- It's massive. There are some other guys out there absolutely raking, but for a premier team like Virginia? It just increases his impact. Gelof's #'s are pretty ridiculous with a high HR total and an OPS over 1.700. I loved the picture of him from yesterday's game where he kind of shrugged his shoulders like "what are you gonna do?". He's in the zone right now.

Do you see any weaknesses or concerns about Tennessee, also early prediction on Ole Miss series?
Kendall Rogers
2:00
Vols -- I honestly don't really see a weakness with this team. I think the bullpen arms are more than suitable and there's depth there, and I think there's a ton of offensive depth. Really, the only uncertainty is just those freshman arms continuing to throw at this level throughout an entire SEC season. The schedule will only get tougher, and we will learn a lot more this weekend.

I know it’s early, but how do you guys see the ACC shaking out when all is said and done?
Kendall Rogers
2:03
JB -- Good question. I definitely think I have the ACC at 10 teams in the NCAA tournament, though. It's kind of interesting. We came into the season as a staff with 10 teams in the postseason -- but trimmed it down one to nine. Now, I'm not sure how you DON'T get to 10 teams in the tournament as it stands today. There's a lot of dust yet to settle, though.

The SEC appears to have many of the top-tier teams again this year.  Which of the lesser SEC teams could be a sleeper that could surprise in the conference race?
Kendall Rogers
2:08
Mike -- There really aren't any lesser teams in the SEC that I feel like have a chance to make a big move. If you forced me to make a decision, tho, i would say A&M. As long as the Aggies get Trevor Werner back in the lineup, I think the starting rotation is good enough to rack up some series wins. We'll see, though.

What's the latest with the new College Baseball Model?
Kendall Rogers
2:17
Nothing to report on that front. I would be very surprised if the New Baseball Model happens anytime soon with the Big Ten derailing some of the things the SEC and others have done in the past. It's too bad because I personally love the idea.

What’s the hype around Ole Miss? I understand they’re bringing back their starting 9 but they haven’t brought in any pitching at the caliber of replacing Nikhazy.. we know pitching is what gets you to Omaha. (Something Bianco hasn’t been to in a while,) i don’t understand how they’ve managed to stay top 3 as long as they have. Glad to see UT finally made your top 5 though!
Kendall Rogers
2:19
Garrett -- Great question. I was impressed with Jack Dougherty over the weekend, but you are definitely right that Ole Miss needs some arms to step up. With that said, a lot of teams are in the same predicament, and I think you could argue that Ole Miss has one of top three position groups in college baseball -- and that's with Kevin Graham on the shelf right now with an injury.

You guys had questions about UVA's pitching staff coming into the season, have those been answered or do you still need to see more to believe in this teams postseason abilities? Are there any other hesitations you have about this team at this point in the season?
Kendall Rogers
2:20
Hoos -- I do want to see what UVA does against better competition - i.e., Wake Forest this weekend, who is much better than Boston College. But I must say, the ability for Nate Savino to be a front-line ace was definitely a question mark coming into the season, and he looks like he's that guy right now. Special season thus far.

How crazy is it going to get in the Pac12 this year? Arizona made a huge statement against the Card and Oregon keeps doing what it has to do. Beavs look great but lack on Sundays a bit? Seems like a perfect year to have a conference tourny...
Kendall Rogers
2:22
It's going to be an absolute blast. I have major questions about Arizona State, to a lesser extent Washington State, and also want to see Utah find a way to bounce back. But outside of those teams? The league looks very much loaded. I would set the number of postseason bids at 5-6 right now.
Chris
2:24
Can you please explain why Beavers dropped from 5 to 6?  You guys always say if you win the weekend series we can't justify dropping you. They won their weekend series and were actually three outs from sweeping ASU and split the midweek games.
Kendall Rogers
2:24
Chris -- Great question. I feel like Tennessee is playing better baseball and a better team at this point. Both are easy, easy top five to six teams, however.
Adam
2:26
What is your take on the U after two weeks do you see them continuing to make noise in the Coastal
Kendall Rogers
2:26
Adam -- Great weekend for the Canes. I knew that outing from Carson Palmquist a couple of weeks ago was a total aberration. He's a bonafide ace, Karson Ligon has been very good as of late and I like the bullpen pieces with Gage Ziehl and Andrew Walters. I'm not necessarily all in on the position group with the Hurricanes club, but I do love the front-line arms.

TCU continues to show resilience under Saarloos so far this season, but can’t help but feel a little more than uneasy w/Krob being pushed back last weekend and missing this weekend. Doesn’t seem like they’ve shown enough depth so far to be true contenders if they are w/out Krob. Any insight to his status and additional thoughts on how you feel about the frogs moving forward?
Kendall Rogers
2:28
Sounds like Krob will be out for a couple of more weeks, but it doesn't sound like it's a long-term issue, which is obviously great news for the Frogs. As long as he's healthy, I feel pretty good about the Frogs the rest of the season.

Is it possible this could be Mark Kingston's last year at SC?  Even with Bosnic coming back in a few weeks, I can't imagine this team being very competitive with the offense yet again being a disappointment.  Add to that a depleted pitching staff and you could be looking at another year similar to 2019, when SC finished 8-22 in SEC play.  Holbrook was fired for much less than that at this point in his tenure.
Kendall Rogers
2:30
I don't like to speculate on coaching changes at this point in the season, but it's also my job not to beat around the bush and provide cover. I think conventional wisdom would suggest that if the Gamecocks don't make the postseason this year, some changes would probably need to be made. What are those changes? Hard to tell at this point. But it's still early in the season and this same Gamecocks team did indeed take a series from Texas two weeks ago. I'm not ready to call it a day on this team and staff just yet.

Creighton has series left against Wichita (this weekend), the Citadel (not a bad RPI), midweek against Arizona at home (2 games), and Uconn (4 games). Can the Jays make a run at a regional?
Kendall Rogers
2:32
Let's just say those Arizona and UCONN games are going to loom pretty large for Creighton at this rate.
