Kyle -- they are definitely better. How much better? We'll find out as the season progresses. Parker Smith has been terrific all-season long on Friday nights (he beat Tech) and Matthew Linskey is a premier reliever. That makes a lot easier. This is a big segue week for the Owls. Have a successful week against A&M and UTSA, and I think you're feeling pretty good about things with JCJR moving forward.

C-USA looks pretty weak this year-thoughts on why the drop? Down seasons for DBU, FAU, LA Tech... Rice is improved but not great. UTSA looks like the only bid right now?

John -- C-USA looks pretty pedestrian right now, that's for sure. UTSA and DBU are both solid clubs, Rice is better, WKU is better -- I'd also warn you not to throw in the towel on teams like Charlotte and La. Tech just yet, though. Both of those clubs have some frontline talent. I think both of those teams will figure it out at some point.

Feels like Arkansas has flown under the radar just a bit. Know they are #5 but they’ve been a quiet 5 so far with some serious injury concerns. What is your take on the new look weekend rotation and did that ease any concerns at all? Offense looks awesome

That's a good point -- somehow it does feel a bit quiet, even though Arkansas has impressed the hell out of us by going 18-2 against a quality schedule, despite those injury issues. I just think that's a really solid all-around club, and they're obviously so well coached and prepared. They did a great job reloading that position player group after losing all those key pieces last year, and they built up enough pitching depth to persevere through the injury bug. And I like the Hollan-McEntire-Adcock trio, because Smith is such a weapon at the back end. I expected Hollan to be a real dude after seeing him in the fall, so I'm not too surprised to see him pitching on Friday nights in SEC play. McEntire is just a warrior, big fan of that guy, who just gets the most out of his talent. And it feels like Adcock is starting to put it all together and harness his exciting talent. Great job by Matt Hobbs and Dave Van Horn managing that staff.

Skenes: best since…

I don't think it's crazy to say he's the best since Stephen Strasburg. You were literally surprised when A&M made contact against him on Friday. Pretty crazy.

Which of the three biggest surprises (Boston College, Missouri, Kentucky) so far this season would you take moving forward?
Kendall Rogers
1:34
Man, that's a really tough question. Maybe Missouri because of its quality pitching? But losing Neubeck would hurt big-time. BC has a very very old team, so that helps.

Thoughts on Ohio State? won 7 straight! Not a contender this year but looks like they are getting on the right path with this coach.

Eric -- I wouldn't sell Ohio State short before conference play begins, but there's zero doubt they look better. They have some solid pieces offensively with Kern and others, and Isaiah Coupet is one of the better Friday arms in the Big Ten and perhaps in all of college baseball. I'd keep an eye on the Bucks.

That's all the time I have today gang.
