How much does the field of 64 projections change after this weekends games? I feel like this was a big weekend for a lot of teams!

We will do another projection next Wednesday to let the dust settle so to speak. A special analysis on bubble teams will be up on the site Wednesday. I'd argue the projections change daily as midweeks matchups are no longer used to get in reps rather used to boost RPI. Teams aren't shying away from a tough schedule in post covid era.

What would need to happen for Texas to pull of the upset and stop OU's win streak?

Texas needs to score runs early and get to the OU pitching staff. The Sooners are going to hit and score runs - we know that. Limiting multiple mistakes and playing solid defense will be key. Tennessee was able to get to the staff back in Palm Springs, so it can be done.

  • Limit extra outs on defense
  • Hit early in the count
  • Score early and often
  • Don't pitch to Alo smirk

What are your opinions on the Emma Lesley illegal pitches called? I understand they were illegal, but I also know they were called by the ump in retaliation for the coaches. Don’t you think they need to call EVERYBODY, EVERY TIME? Jordy included. It doesn’t matter if some do more than others IMO if it’s not gaining an advantage, either call everybody, or change the rule. Thoughts?

This is a hot topic right now. My personal opinion - call it all the time or don't call it at all. It's somewhat of an unwritten rule that frankly, we need to sort out as it's changing the outcome of games. You cannot cherry-pick if and when it is called. I'd like NCAA to move to the international rule and take the umpire out of the situation. It was tough watching Virginia Tech's Lemley yesterday. Hopefully, it starts a conversation along with the safety base concern.
