Was reading in "The Arm" about the insanely punishing way Japanese pitchers are brought up. Could this paradoxically make NPB pitchers a better bet for durability (because anyone with weak elbows would've blown them out already way before reaching adulthood) than their more-sheltered American counterparts?

Arguably yes. The issue of whether it's moral to burn through players like that, Hunger Games style, is another one.

In very specific situations, if you take advantage of it.
The key to positional flexibility players is you need to design your roster to take advantage of it.
FOr example, taking risks that the flexibility players.

When creating playoff odds, would you simulate 10,000 seasons or 10,000 seasons worth of games (simulate each game from each season) if that makes any sense. I feel like the fangraphs projections are too top heavy (the playoff odds for the projected favorites like the Indians and Red Sox seem way too high).
