The Machado/Sox thing reminded me of a USA Today report from late in the 2015 season finding that a large majority of bench-clearing incidents are precipitated by conflicts between players of different ethnic backgrounds, with over half involving conflicts between white and Latino players. The rhetoric advanced by the typical white party to such conflicts, with its emphasis on "respect for tradition," bears *at least* a superficial resemblance to white supremacist rhetoric. Why doesn't baseball treat beanball wars the way, say, UEFA treats racist taunting? Will it eventually be forced to treat it that way? -- Regarding studiously apolitical statistical-analysis sites, same question.
