I've read before about how a batter in a slump (or just out of the blue) changes the kind of bat he uses and starts hitting much better. Is there any literature out there about the dynamic of bats to offensive production/results?

Not that I know of.

Simply because the data is a bit tricky to get.

So stuff like bats is still spun up int he quasi-mythological baseballverse.

I don't think he's a lost cause.

I think he was ill-served in a couple of ways developmentally

He was likely promoted to quickly, getting very little minor league experience

and his health has been afactor

But the talent is still tehre.
