Valencia isn't a free agent this winter.
Bullish A's fan.
12:41
Over/under for Marcus Semien's home runs is 29.5 what do you take?
Dave Cameron
12:41
He's at 18, right? So 11.5 more ROS? That actually sounds about right.
baltic wolf
12:42
Vogelbach: does he get traded? The Cubs aren't going to let him rot in their system are they? (Sorry if this question got asked twice, something happened when I tried the first time and the question disappeared.)
Dave Cameron
12:43
He probably does get traded, but he's not worth that much. A 23 year old bat only guy who projects as a league average hitter isn't really a particularly valuable player, and even if you think the bat improves some -- not a given, with his body type -- the upside is Billy Butler or something.
Greg

Assume the Nats were willing to deal Giolito. Who would the Yankees have to add on top of Chapman to make it happen?
Dave Cameron
12:44
Every valuable thing they have.
Brandon Belt
12:44
Should I start a grassroots movement to end all-star fan voting? Maybe have a fangraphs staff vote instead?
Dave Cameron
12:44
The fans do a better job than the players.
Alfonso
12:45
Could Bartolo actually draw a QO? If mets decide to move a pitcher this offseason, Bartolo would probably be worth it at 16/1yr if he continues to pitch at a similar caliber. right?
Dave Cameron
12:45
Don't think there's a big enough market for a 42 year old pitcher to generate that kind of bidding war.
The Cincinnati Kid
12:46
Could you give us 3 surprises in the Top 50 for the Trade Value Series?
Dave Cameron
12:47
I haven't ordered the list yet -- going to work on it on my flight to Boston this afternoon -- but I will note that Mike Trout only barely has the best ZIPS five year forecast; there's a player expected to pass him as the best player on the planet in a couple of years.
Other thing I found interesting: Joe Ross has a better five year ZIPS forecast than Julio Urias.
Shane
12:48
Who do you think is the best starting pitcher traded before the deadline?
Dave Cameron
12:48
Sonny Gray.
West Coast Wreck
12:48
Including Inciarte would allow the Redsox to depart with Benintendi + Swihart + 1other guy to snag Teheran as well.
Dave Cameron
12:49
Well, yes, they could lose their minds and make a disastrous trade like that, but they won't.

Do you follow basketball? Thoughts on Durant going to the Warriors?
Dave Cameron
12:51
I follow it to some degree, but not enough to be any kind of expert. I do wonder about whether adding another offense-first player is really going to improve GSW that much; every shot Durant takes is one that Curry or Thompson don't get, most likely, so it's not like there's going to be a big improvement in scoring.

when's the trade value series come out again?
Dave Cameron
12:51
Next week!

12:51
how's the move coming along?
Dave Cameron
12:51
Not moving until the fall. The house sold the first day on the market, though, so that worked out nicely.
brawdley
12:52
given their position on the win curve, how aggressive do you think Boston will be at the deadline?
Dave Cameron
12:52
You don't bring in Dave Dombrowski because you're thinking long-term.
Billy Beane
12:52
Any chance I hook up with Zaidi in LA on a Rich Hill trade if the injury bug keeps biting? LAD has a lot of prospects and I have the best rental pitcher.
Dave Cameron
12:53
With Norris added, McCarthy back, and Ryu close, the Dodgers probably don't need Hill at this point. Kershaw/Maeda/Kazmir/McCarthy/Norris/Ryu/Wood is a very good rotation, with two arms to spare.
Dave P
12:54
Could the Padres find a trade partner for Kemp if they ate $45M of the remaining ~$70M owed? And if so, is there anything of value coming back?
Dave Cameron
12:55
I don't know who would take Kemp, at this point. The Rangers are the only contender who really needs a DH, and even they could just play Gallo instead.
Adam
12:55
Hey Dave, can you name the player with the highest WAR total, whose wRC+ is less than 100?
Dave Cameron
12:56
Probably Addison Russell, right?
Or maybe his recent hot streak got him back to 100?
Adam
12:56
Lorenzo Cain - 98 wRC+ - 1.9 WAR
Dave Cameron
12:57
Okay, so it was Russell before yesterday.
Adam
12:57
as of yesterday, when I asked this to august, the correct answer was Kevin Pillar.
Nolan
12:58
If the Rays could go back in time and scratch the Nationals out of the Wil Myers trade, they do it in a heartbeat, right?
Dave Cameron
12:58
For sure.
Pooneod
12:58
At what point is segura good in your estimation? You don't like him - we get it.
Dave Cameron
12:59
He has 2300 career plate appearances and a wRC+ of 83. He's been worth ~+1.5 WAR per season. He's not good.
