I put it in tuna, and that's about it. I don't hate it like some people do, but I also find it mostly unnecessary, and it's pretty terrible for you.

It looks like the BBWA voters did what you didn't expect: Voted for the best player, Mike Trout. Is your faith in BBWA voting reaffirmed?
Dave Cameron
12:22
I would go more with strengthened than reaffirmed, since I clearly underestimated the voters.
But it says a lot about how much progress the voters are making.

We finished last, our GM got suspended, President got fired, and now we have the worst uniforms in baseball. Can the Padres do anything this offseason to make it an interesting one? Trade some of the medium players left on the roster for something decent? Maybe a find a SS somewhere?
Dave Cameron
12:23
They should take the Brewers approach; go take a bunch of flyers on guys with interesting track records but some kind of fatal flaw that makes them available.
12:24
The Brewers found a good pitcher in Junior Guerra, a potential regular CF in Keon Broxton, and a solid infielder in Jonathan Villar.
You give guys like that chances, hit on one or two, and now you've got some pieces besides Wil Myers.

Are nats more likely to replace werth or zimmerman this year?
Dave Cameron
12:25
Probably Werth. He looks pretty old at this point.

Chris Sale, David Robertson, Zach Putnam to the Red Sox for Bradley Jr., Eduardo Rodriguez, Christian Vazquez, Travis Shaw, Henry Owens and Michael Kopech.
Dave Cameron
12:26
I think Boston probably doesn't see enough 2017 upgrade there to justify the long-term costs. Probably want to rework it to cost them less off their big league roster.

Where do you fall on the future-of-Taijuan Walker spectrum? Seems like some think he's destined for the bullpen and others are holding out hope for a future ace. If the answer is somewhere in the middle, what does he need to do to improve upon his chances?
Dave Cameron
12:28
I don't think anyone really knows. The stuff is there, the command is there sometimes and not other times. It's not hard to see him becoming a good pitcher. It's not hard to see him flaming out. I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up in the bullpen either.

How did you get into baseball?
Dave Cameron
12:30
We didn't have a TV growing up, so I listened to the radio a lot as a kid. And frequently, that meant listening to Dave Niehaus broadcast baseball games. I also used to have to go to my parents business -- they own a Volkswagen repair shop and parts store -- since they want to get us a sitter to stay at home, so I'd walk down the road to the 7-11 and buy packs of baseball cards. Then I'd memorize the numbers on the back.
12:31
So, radio and baseball cards, basically.

12:31
Matz and Conforto enough to headline a Sale deal? Or Amed Rosario needed in there too?
Dave Cameron
12:31
Hard to use Matz as a big trade chip given his health issues right now.
Too much risk.

Cranberry sauce - Canned or Homemade?
Dave Cameron
12:32
Homemade. It's so easy!

12:32
Would you rather have 3 years of Sale or 5 years of Archer?
Dave Cameron
12:33
3 years of Sale. Pitchers break down so often than the extra long-term value from Archer might never materialize.

12:33
I have not seen any rumors on this, but do you think the Nationals would package Turner, Giolito, and Lopez for Chris Sale? Would that plus another prospect or two make sense for either side?
Dave Cameron
12:33
They've said they're not trading Turner.

Pumpkin is a 40? Get out.
Dave Cameron
12:34
Pumpkin is fine if you don't have Sweet Potato, but you might as well just have Sweet Potato. It's better.

In terms of a guy like Chris Archer, with that much control and surplus value, are there scenarios where it makes sense for a probable non-contending team to trade for him? Especially if they have a high pick in the 2017 draft.
Dave Cameron
12:35
Not really. With any pitcher, the value is still almost all in the short term, because there's so much risk of long-term breakdown, that having a non-contender outbid contenders who could use the 2017 value doesn't make sense.
Derek
12:36
What would the Nats have to give up to get McCutchen? Robles+ enough or would he need to be paired with another top level guy like Giolito or Lopez?
Dave Cameron
12:36
Yeah, you'd have to give up more than Robles for Cutch.
Giolito and Robles probably make PIT think.

Do you think it would behoove GM’s to come out and explain at least a vague plan to the fanbase, of how they are trying to compete? Ie, we’re not going after high priced FA’s, and this is why…..or, we’re trying to get younger, so we’re trading our vets away. Something along those lines?
Dave Cameron
12:38
I think teams somewhat do that.
Maybe not that specific, but they generally leak enough information that beat writers can give fans a reasonable expectation.

Does buying some FG merch. make up for using adblock and not me a FG member? If so, how much. Like a sweater should cover me for a year or two right.
Dave Cameron
12:38
We make almost nothing on the merch.
12:39
If you use adBlock, you really should be a member at the mininum.
Otherwise you're basically just taking our content for free. And none of this is free to run.
