If Bell sits out 6 weeks and loses $5 million, and he wants $1 million a year over what Steelers offered and he has 5 playing years left, where is the logic?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
I'm not sure there has been a whole lot of logic applied in this continuing saga

Hi Ed, do you think there's anything to all the failed Antonio Brown targets on Sunday?  Just coincidence or are he and Ben not on the same page or is there something else going on with those two?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
I think it's a combination of Ben trying to force some throws to Brown and him just being covered. However, Ben threw some poor balls to him on a bunch of third downs in the second half Sunday night that I detailed in my story today.

Is it fair to blame Bell for our record this year?  We have $14.5 M in cap room we could have spent for 2-3 D players, instead its going unspent.
Ed Bouchette
2:21
You must have read my story back in March

Ed, The core of the Steelers' troubles lie in the fact that they have whiffed on too many high draft picks over the past 4 years, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Seems apparent w/LBs such as J. Jones and Dupree, but also w/several DBs. And now Tuitt is playing mediocre ball. Is this primarily on the front office?
Ed Bouchette
2:22
Maybe drafting late in the round(s) is catching up to them.
Wisconsin Winters

Ed, What non-traditional sport have you covered that you surprisingly enjoyed? NASCAR?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Never covered NASCAR but did write a story about Evel Knievel when he put on a show at New Alexandria years ago. That was fun. People throwing bricks at his trailer as we were inside talking.

2:24
Ed, will Bell take your phone call asking for an interview on his status?
Ed Bouchette
2:24
Not even his agent will do that.
BeeWhisperer
2:24
In your opinion, what's the Steelers record at the end of the season?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
This is the first time I did not predict one and at this point, I'm glad I did not. At the moment, I'm not optimistic it's going to be very good.
Doug
2:25
Ed - thanks for your time. I said this same thing last week after a W. This team stinks. You feel the same or do you have hope going forward
Ed Bouchette
2:26
I'm full of hope about all kinds of things. As for the Steelers, I'll just write what happens.
Wisconsin Winters

Ed, With so many films and TV shows filmed in the Burgh, do you get a lot of requests to be an extra or play a  spot role?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
I can't tell you how many.
Corey
2:26
We fire Lebeau, We force Out Hines Ward and Polamalu,We get rid of Haley , Please tell me Now what’s the problem??????
Ed Bouchette
2:27
So you really think they should have let Ward and Polamalu play another year? Did you see them play in their final year? And do you think having LeBeau and Haley coaching this team would make a difference right now?

Ed, your opinion on the Bell situation? Embrace him when he comes or continue to seek a team that will take him off our hands? Thank you sir
Ed Bouchette
2:28
I present a number of scenarios in a piece I'm writing that will appear later this afternoon.
Wisconsin Winters

Ed, is 24-hour sports (ESPN and the lIke) to blame for why fans are so fickle these days?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
ESPN has been around for nearly 40 years, no?

Understand limited cap room a factor, but The last couple years the only FA’s we sign are out of the bargain bin or “Garage Sale - As Is” and always “Inthe tub!”.. Ledarious Green, Burnett, Behre... Thoughts? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:29
Unlike some other teams, the Steelers value their own rather than someone else's. It's why they re-sign so many of their good players. It's why they have gone to such pain to try to keep Bell, for better or worse.

How many questions per minute do you receive? Just curious how many sit in que. Your chats we look forward to!
Ed Bouchette
2:30
Some of my colleagues count the number of questions that are left when they are done their chats. I don't bother with that, just try to wade through them. As I say, the most important question is the next one.

If Bell would have told his teammates and the front office his intentions from the beginning, this would not be a PR nightmare for everyone. I blame his agent do you?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
No, all the blame is on the player. The agent accepted the contract the Steelers offered back in 2017, but Bell then turned it down. He's his own man.
Steelin Shams
2:31
Ed-If and when Bell returns, how will the locker room feel about his return?  Will this cause more disruption?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
I think they'll be fine once he gets here. That won't be a problem.
steelerfan
2:31
Assuming Bell returns week 7, and has a good productive rest of the year for the Steelers, do you think the Steelers would consider giving him the Gurley type contract he seeks next year?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
No
Tonley
2:32
out in 03, made it 04 and 05. Out in 06, made it 07 and 08. Out in 09, made it 2010 and 2011, out in '12 and 13', made it four straight years...they're due for missing  playoffs, no?
Ed Bouchette
2:32
As Mike Tomlin would say, he doesn't deal in patterns
Doug
2:32
ed - I’ve noticed you have done some interviews for Mike Florio in the past. My question is why? He is a big time Steeler troll with a jaded opinion. You’re better than him
Ed Bouchette
2:33
Actually, I like Mike. He's intelligent and he runs a good site.

Was it the possibility that The Stillers being where they are right now that kept you from doing your much anticipated season *prediction* article?
Ed Bouchette
2:34
No, it is more technique, as the players might say. We used to have a place to write blogs on the web and we no longer do. That is where I would write my predictions the morning of the game.
