Maybe then they would not throw deep.

Does Bill Belicheat read your chats? Hope not... could they be attempting to hide Bryant until the possible second meeting with the Pats?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
Everyone reads my chats
Craig

Thanks for the Chat Ed.  Do the players seem distracted by all the Bryant talk?  What is the general attitude in the locker room?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
They are fed up with it, but not with him, if that makes sense.

3-1 on the Bungles 31... what is the lowest % play you don't call there, Ed?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
Bombs away?

Does Ben have a clause in his contract that excludes him from QB sneaks? When was the last time?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I think it was 2004

Why not use Nix and Bell to get one measley yard?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
Or even Nix and Watson. Sometimes, though, it's not that measley

Where does the hide n seek celebration rank in terms of best celebrations of the year in your book?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
I didn't like it but then I'm an old fogey. My favorite 2 were both by Antonio Brown -- his somersult into the end zone and his scissors into the goalpost.

Steeler defensive backs really coming into their own. They were a liability last year but a huge asset this year. Do you think Joe Heyden has much to do with the turn around?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
I do. HIs name is Haden by the way. So is Mike Hilton and the extra year experience of last year's rookies, Artie Burns and Sean Davis.
Jonathan
2:18
Has there been any mention of Dan Rooney's reaction towards Bryants complaints?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
That would be hard to come by.

I know the fake punt worked, but wasn't it a terrible call given the situation?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
I thought so because the Bengals would have had the ball on the Steelers 40 12 points down and 3 1/2 minutes to go. Nevertheless, when it works it's a great play. It's only terrible when it doesn't.

Are the Steelers one of the healthiest teams right now?  I can't recall a year that has brought us such fortune in that department.
Ed Bouchette
2:21
Oops, you just violated the don't-jinx-them mantra.
Sheff
2:22
Will the Steelers finish 14-2 or 13-3?   In all seriousness, have you adjusted your predictions for them?
Ed Bouchette
2:22
I've adjusted all of my predictions because I had them losing in Baltimore and in KC, and winning in Chicago and vs. Jax

Did the first few games of the season hurt Bell's chances of getting whatever crazy amount he was last rapping about, or will that be forgotten due to how he is playing now, and will probably finish?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
If you mean the amount of money, he's not getting $17 million from the Steelers, nor $15 M

Does the Post Gazette mandate articles about Bryant (or any news story of the day) or is it at the discretion of reporters such as yourself?  I've always wondered how much control you have over your own content.  The Bryant story is only what it is due to social media and reporting.
Ed Bouchette
2:23
The bosses usually trust in us to know what story to write on a daily basis, but they also come up with suggestions

Ed - the deep ball that Bryant misplayed looked really bad. Maybe more blame goes on the throw, I don't know. Shouldn't he have been turning to locate the throw much earlier in single coverage? Seems pretty simple...
Ed Bouchette
2:25
Ben said he was supposed to look earlier. it was not the QB's fault is my understanding

2:25
Watson seems to have more of the coaching staffs confidence than Conner at this point. Poor choice on the 3rd especially considering he is a 1 dimensional runner?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
No. I thought it was a good choice. The bad choice was not having the fullback in the game too there
The Brit
2:26
In your opinion, should the Steelers suspend or bench Bryant?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
I might bench him for one game, but I don't think they will
Scott in Dalals
2:27
If the Steelers keep running Bell the way they have so far I have to believe that they are planning to let him walk in the off-season. Heavy workload+past injuries=not a good long-term investment. Run him till the wheels come off situation a la Fast Willie?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
They did that last year too didn't they? It's not something new
Whatzis
2:27
Ed, I don't know how the protocol works, but do reporters get to question the NFL about calls or non-calls after a game? Watt was wrestled down by his facemask in the 4th quarter in front of an official and nothing was called. Seems to me there ought to be more accountability.
Ed Bouchette
2:28
That wouldn't be something that could be questioned. We can request to talk to the ref if there is a significant ruling or one that seems to need an explanation, not holding penalties or facemask non-calls or things like that.
The Brit
2:28
Who’s responsibility is it to call that time out at the end of the half? Tomlin seems to be taking the heat on it but surely Ben could/ should have called it too?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
Mike said he called time, told the ref beforehand he was going to call time and they did not give it to him in a timely fashion.
The Brit

Are the Steelers trying to be too cute on third and short this year?
