We hear a lot about Tomlin’s lack of discipline and all the distractions and turmoil happening. Around the rest of the league, the Giants are as big if not a bigger circus (plus they lose) and the Browns are too dysfunctional to even be a joke, and that’s to name just two. Don’t you think Steelers fans need a little perspective?
Ed Bouchette
2:50
Many do, the others host talk shows.

is there any player (realistically)  you would trade for today?
Ed Bouchette
2:53
One thing you must understand about trading for players is the price you must give up to get him. A Steelers exec once told me right after the Dallas trade of Herschel Walker to Minnesota that he thought it was a great trade for the Vikings because you needed great players. It was a great trade -- for the Cowboys, because they got so much in return they built their 1990s dynasty of 3 SB wins.

if Steelers rescind tag and someone signs bell does the comp pick come this year?
Ed Bouchette
2:53
Under those circumstances, they would get NO comp pick for him, ever

2:54
Do you believe bell will show up this week
Ed Bouchette
2:54
I have stopped trying to figure out when/if that will happen

Any discussion on what the Steelers are going to do about Ben's finger?
Ed Bouchette
2:54
It's on his left hand, so nothing.

Why would Nix signal for a fair catch but not try to catch it?
Ed Bouchette
2:55
I don't know, he wouldn't talk about it.

Are the Steelers basically buying a 3rd rounder at this point, for effectively $6M (prorated portion of Bell's tag)?  With Connor, I'm not sure why Bell needs to see the field.
Ed Bouchette
2:56
What if Conner gets hurt?

Assuming Bell reports by week 10, is there any truth to the story that the Steelers could transition tag Bell next year, and because of the way that the CBA language is written, would only have to pay him ~$6M+ since his "salary" for this year has been drastically reduced by the holdout?
Ed Bouchette
2:58
Yes, that's the assumption, although the NFL players association would likely ask for arbitration on that matter. Still, a transition tag does little but protect the team's right to match another offer. At this point, I think the Steelers would rather be done with Bell after this season.

Who is a better rumbling back, bell or corner?
Ed Bouchette
2:59
This year, it's James Conner

Does Bell have any rational incentive not to suit up by week 11?
Ed Bouchette
3:00
Only if he wants to make sure he does not get hurt playing football this year.

Is there any difference whatsoever between Bell playing last 6 games or him sitting out the whole season?
Ed Bouchette
3:02
Not really. He'll still become a UFA provided the Steelers don't tag him, and I would not expect that to happen. Plus, if they tag him they have to tie up all that money again and can't use it on other players.

Hi Ed and thank you. So it's looking like Eli Rogers is going to be a welcome sight due to our 3rd option issue. Is he game ready?
Ed Bouchette
3:03
Eli's been working out, but I cannot tell you that he is "game ready."
Thank you for another great chat. See you next Tuesday
