Good afternoon, let's begin
Dr. Mike
2:00
How do we end up with an offensive coordinator who never played the game at any level?  Is there any other offensive or defensive coordinators in the NFL who played tennis rather than football?  You can't learn to be a surgeon in the library and tennis doesn't seem to be a background for coaching football.
Ed Bouchette
2:02
First of all, Todd Haley played golf, not tennis. Yes, there are plenty of people around the game who did not play it professionally or in college. Todd has been successful at what he does for a long time and they're not asking him to block, tackle or throw a pass. He learned from a great one, his dad Dick Haley to start, then worked closely with Hall of Famer Bill Parcells. You don't have to play the game to learn it.

Ed the dbs held up against a good qb on the road. This looks and feels like a defense on the rise. What do you think?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
I've been writing that for over a year
Moose
2:03
I never remember Ben being as inaccurate as he has been this year.  Do you think it is mechanical or mental?  Looks like he isn't stepping into throws to me.
Ed Bouchette
2:04
So, if Eli Rogers catches the TD pass he dropped and if Antonio Brown's TD catch that was scratched because of a ticky-tack pushing off penalty against him counts, what would you be saying? Plus, I thought DHB could have given a little more effort on that other one in the end zone.
Moose
2:05
Do you think MB realizes how bad he looks griping about production when his team is winning?  I don't think he is salvageable (as a Steeler) and I would trade him in a heartbeat for a 4th rounder or better.
Ed Bouchette
2:05
You assume someone would give up a fourth rounder or better for what you just described?
JohnK

Hey there Ed.  Do you believe this Steelers team, as is, can go into New England and win?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Yes, I do believe they CAN, but that's not saying much because they have never done it there vs. Brady. Perhaps the Patriots will come to Pittsburgh for that game.
Moose
2:06
If the Pats came to town this weekend, what would be the spread?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Even
I'd check with a bookie but I really don't know any.
Moose
2:07
Do you think Godell will get an extension?  Sounds like there are plans in the works by owners to replace him.
Ed Bouchette
2:07
I have not given it that much thought.
OKC Dave

With today being the trade deadline, is there any upgrade you'd like to see? Since we've only had sporadic injuries, I don't think there's an area we need to "sell the farm for."
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I cannot remember the last time the Steelers actually made a trade at the trade deadline. Maybe in the 1960s
So, no, don't expect to see anything done by 4

JuJu played great and made alot out of his 10 targets. If Martavis received 10 targets dont you think the results would be similar?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
Well, they haven't been in total, so no

Your colleague, Paul Zeise, thinks the Steelers should trade Bryant before 4pm.  I think that is silly.  No way we could get any value for him, and right now, at the very least, he is good injury insurance.  Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
If someone wanted to give them a top 3 draft choice for him, I might think about it, but that's not going to happen and the Steelers are not going to give him away, particularly after he asked them to. Mike Merriweather was a Pro Bowl linebacker unhappy with his contract and he demanded a trade. They refused. He held out the entire 1988 season without pay and they did not move him until after that season, when they got a No. 1 pick for him.

Looking at the Steelers schedule, *if* they beat the teams that they are supposed to beat, I'm counting 12-4.  Does that get them the #1 seed?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
Provided one of those teams is New England

Big Ben's timing on the deep ball is way off, initially I thought it was with MB, but his first pass to JuJu was short arm, his passes to DHB and others wqy off as well, it seems lack of confidence. What do you think ?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
Pass to DHB was WAY off? You and I must have seen a different game. Also, that other pass to JuJu looked right on target, right in stride. Sorry, I'm not buying this stuff that Ben is WAY off. Is he as accurate as he's been through most of his career? No, he's not, but it's not been way off as you suggest

How does a former prolific punt returner like AB suddenly not have it anymore?  It's not like his physical skills have diminished.
Ed Bouchette
2:13
I'm not sure. He really has not been an exceptional punt returner in quite some time.
Bee_Sting
2:13
Bigger ongoing injury - Gilbert or Tuit and why ?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
I believe they'll both be back for the next game, in Indy
Bee_Sting
2:14
What does the trade between NE and SF mean, how long do they really think Brady can go ?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
Apparently, they will sign Brian Hoyer, who has been with them and knows their system. So if you look at it that way, they get a second round draft pick and really give up nothing. Not bad.
Phil
2:15
Any upstate on the severity of Gilbert's leg injury?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I think he'll be good to go for the next game
Mattl
2:15
If you were the gm, would you have traded Bryant today?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
Not unless you want to give me a top pick
Hank
2:15
If Martavius Bryant is active versus the Colts, does Hunter become inactive?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I would say so, unless they make Eli Rogers inactive again
Sheila
2:16
Do you believe Ben's still trying to force the ball into AB? On his int, he threw into triple coverage.
