Good afternoon, a tad early again. Bonus time, let's begin

Ed, Another almost-loss to an inferior opponent while their coach has them already in the conference final.  Does this team suffer from over confidence, lack of preparation or both?
Ed Bouchette
1:56
I'm with ya, but almost losing means they did win, six in a row look at 'em go. I was surprised Mike Tomlin said what he said, but I'm happy he said it because it spices everything up. He did talk about the Cincinnati Bengals today. The Steelers have been able to avoid getting upset for the most part since those games vs. the Bears and Jaguars but they are making it interesting.

One positive I haven't seen anyone write about regarding these close calls against bad teams - learning how to win close games when the pressure is on.  Playoff games often come down to the wire and experience winning these nail biters can only help.

It can't hurt . . . unless you lose one ore more of those

Breathing a big sigh of relief after past 2 games--Ben is finally playing at a high level, Bryant is coming on, and the offense looks like it can do its share to get team to promised land. Now the defense is having issues! Is (sure tackler) Joe Haden's absence the biggest problem? What else needs to be corrected? Thanks
Ed Bouchette

I would think Joe Haden's absence is part of the problem, but it does not explain why Sean Davis and Ryan Shazier could not stop that screen pass before it turned into a TD.

Prior to Sunday's game, I predicted that the Steelers would make the rookie QB look like Joe Namath, and of course they did (3 TDs, 0 int). Just as they do every year -- remember Gradkowski (spelling) for Oakland a few years back. I'm not that smart to predict such a thing but anyone who watched the Steelers over the years knows what I know. Question to you is why does this pattern continue? How do we expect to beat Brady when we can barely beat "Joe bag of donuts?"
Ed Bouchette
1:58
Maybe they were focusing on New England too much.

Hi Ed - how do you think Artie Burns and Coty Sensabaugh have played  at CB? Seems like all of the long passing TDs given up have come after Haden got injured.
Ed Bouchette
1:59
Sensabaugh has played up and down. Burns has not played like a No. 1 draft pick.

Hi Ed - can you see the Steelers keeping Eli Rogers around much longer? He has a hard time getting on the field and when he does - he seems to drop open passes (had several more Sunday night).
Ed Bouchette
1:59
Rogers had a solid season, his first in the NFL, in 2016. I'm not sure why he's regressed, but he has.

Hi Ed - who do you think it fires up more saying that the Steelers should win it all - the Steelers or the Patriots?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
Mike Tomlin put the pressure squarely on him and his team and it probably was greeted in New England with a chuckle. We'll ultimately know who has the last laugh.

Hi Ed - I traveled from the Jersey Shore to Pittsburgh for the Steelers game Sunday night. In the limited number of times I have made it to Pittsburgh for a game - I have never seen a double shot of Renegade before. Do they do that often?
Ed Bouchette
2:01
No, I think it was a first. And lord knows the Steelers defense might have needed a third rendition Sunday night.

Hi Ed,  Long time reader & love your work. Chances of JuJu coming back this week ? Eli has turned into Limas Sweed !
Ed Bouchette
2:01
Mike Tomlin thought today that his chances were good.

Hola from Mexico Ed. How accurate is the version on Mike Tomlin taking over Keith Butler's play-calling duties during second half of last Sunday's game? Best regards my friend.
Ed Bouchette
2:02
This is the first I've heard of it. That would surprise me.

I know tackling is limited in practice due to rules but can they tackle the tackle dummies or does that count as contact?  so up the poor tackling is just due to not wrapping up.
Ed Bouchette
2:03
Problem with the tackling dummies is no one blocks for them.

Any touchdown celebrations you particularly enjoy?
Ed Bouchette

I loved Heath Miller's, where he would either hand the ball to the official or merely drop it.

Hi Ed. Unsure about replacement options, how long of a leash does coty  sensabaugh have right now?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
Thanks, Bob. We've now reached the entire NAFTA membership. I don't think Cam Sutton is ready, so they'll stick with him.
2:05
The alternative would be William Gay

will Heyward make the probowl this year? and did you think it would be a DL that would crack the double digits in sacks?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
He should make the Pro Bowl. Right now he would be the Steelers defensive MVP, if they had one. 10 sacks for a 3-4 end is like 20 for one playing in a 4-3.

Why does Justin hunter with all his proven red zone ability only play 5 snaps a game?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Proven? He dropped one Sunday night in the end zone, although it would have been a nice catch. Who do you play him over on the outside? Not AB, Not Bryant.

Hello Ed. So, win at CIN and win vs BAL and the Steelers win the Division, how to be focus in these games and not looking ahead week 15 vs the Pats?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
when the coach is looking ahead to week 15 vs. New England, often it trickles down.
Ike Steelheart
2:08
Who will be covering Adriel Jeremiah Green?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
Steelers don't switch sides with their current corners, or even when Haden was healthy, so I suppose whatever side AJ lines up on, that's the corner he'll get

What is your opinion on Bell's running?  I feel he has lost a step and defenses have adjusted and are now stopping his once effective hesitation running style.  I know he leads the league in rushing yards, but what I watch on Sunday's does not look like the Bell of previous years.  Even in the passing game he seems less dynamic and really hasn't broken off many big splash plays.  Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
I agree with you on many points. I do think defenses are defending him a little different.  A few more doses of James Conner might help that. When a runner shows he's always going to be patient, a defense can show its patience as well.

What was the extent of Joe Haden's injury and is it possible he returns this year at some point ?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
He has a broken fibula and, yes, they hope he can return, which is why he still has a roster spot and not on IR
