No, it shouldn't be. I'm not saying that will happen, just pointing it out as a possibility.
Patxi from Bilbao

Is everyone of the steelers that made the pro bowl playing this sunday?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
I haven't heard of anyone backing out yet. I think the fact the coaching staff is there and so many teammates they will all go.

Will McDonald be a cap casualty this offseason? He played well but was always hurt.
Ed Bouchette
2:19
He wasn't always hurt. I think they should keep him. His salary is only $3.7 million. He also has another $900,000 in bonuses due.
Felix
2:19
Can we assume DHB, Gay & Sensabaugh will be cut to save on cap space?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
I can't see them carrying Gay again. Sensabaugh has $1.4 salary but did not reach expectations. Tomlin likes DHB, who has $1.2 M salary. All according to OverTheCap
Since 1972
2:21
They named a video game after a coach that was 1-7 in AFC championship games
Ed Bouchette
2:21
And he made the Pro FB Hall of Fame

I'm just assuming that Shazier isn't playing next year. How does his salary work against the cap space if that's the case. Allow for a FA ILB to come in?
Ed Bouchette
2:22
Ryan signed his fifth-year option so he counts $8.7 million against their cap this year.
Felix
2:22
Will the Steelers tender Eli Rogers who is an RFA ?
Ed Bouchette
2:22
Mmmmm, maybe not because of the ACL injury. No one else will sign him with that anyway.

Outside of Bell situation, that side of the balll looks stable. Focus of FA & the draft HAS TO BE to get the defense fixed right?? Top 3 picks will be D?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Yes, they must focus on the defense but if Bell leaves, they need to draft a stud RB

Randy Fichtner ran an uptempo offense ar Memphis that mixed in good running backs. Think we will see more no-huddle (with Ben letting the clock drain to see the defense) next year?
Ed Bouchette
2:24
I think it's possible we will see more no huddle. There will be a smooth transition because terminology, etc., will remain but Randy will add his touch.

Do you think the Steelers should move away from grooming ex-players as coaches?  Just because they were great individual players, that doesn't mean they are destined for greatness as coaches
Ed Bouchette
2:26
It depends on what player-to-coaches you mean -- ex Steelers players or just ex NFL players? Because Mike Munchak, in my opinion, is one of the best line coaches in the league. Dick LeBeau was a pretty good defensive coordinator in his prime.

What do your sources think about Haley being hired by the Browns?  Any of them surprised?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
I haven't asked anyone about it. He was well received by the media in Cleveland, though, from what I saw.
Calf Bill
2:29
ED, Cluch leaves and Pitt has tears. If Bell leaves will there be tears or  cheers. Thanks for all the past chats.
Ed Bouchette
2:29
I'm sure there will be a mix of both.
Andrew
2:29
Would Bill Cowher have lasted as long as he did if social media existed? 1998 7-9 1999 6-10 2000 9-7 2003 6-10
Ed Bouchette
2:29
I don't think the Rooneys react to either social media or disgruntled limited partners on that matter.

Will Art Rooney II directly tell Coach Tomlin to pay more attention to player discipline/focus next year?
Ed Bouchette
2:30
I don't think he will order him. I do think it will be a topic of discussion.

Ed, on the supposed James Harrison strip sack it wasn't actually Harrison that did the sack or strip it was Kyle Van Noy, think Steelers fans overreacted quite a bit because the announcers messed it up. Harrison did not get any credited for any sacks in that game.
Ed Bouchette
2:33
You are correct. He was credited with three tackles, no sacks. But he did have two pressures that helped lead to sacks.
Andy MD
2:33
Should the Steelers just offer the same contract from last yr with no franchise tag prior to free agency?  in essence letting Bell walk due to immediate needs in the defense?
Ed Bouchette
2:34
They can offer him anything they want. He can accept or reject anything. But I don't think he would take the offer they gave him last year.
Oscar

Planning a trip to Super Bowl LII or someplace warm?
Ed Bouchette
2:34
I'll be at the Super Bowl.

2:35
Does the team factor the likely landing place(s) of a player like Bell when deciding whether or not to let him walk - to minimize his affect on the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:35
You mean like they did not do with James Harrison and Blount?
fla
2:35
what is the difference between a non exclusive tag and a franchise tag?
Ed Bouchette
2:36
They are both franchise tags. One requires another team to pony up 2 first-round picks if they sign him. The other in essence allows him not to sign elsewhere. To me, there's no difference.
Paul L
2:36
How does Munchak's role with the team grow?   What position would challenge him more?
Ed Bouchette
2:37
Since they already named their coordinator, he will remain the line coach. I could see them adding a title, maybe "associate head coach" or something.
Thank you for another great chat. I'm not sure about next Tuesday yet because of interviews at Super Bowl. I'll check with the boss and get back to you
