Good afternoon, a tad early, but let's begin anyway

Ed, if the ILB want is gone at #28, considering the current roster, what do you think the chances of whoever they pick starting are?
Ed Bouchette
1:55
If he's an outside linebacker, he'd have a chance to compete with Dupree. A safety might have a chance to compete also, but I think only an inside linebacker would have a clear path to starting immediately.

Hi there Mr Ed, if no inside linebacker is available at 28 do you think Dupree or Watt could move inside and the Steelers would draft another outside backer?
Ed Bouchette
1:56
I don't see that happening, although I believe Watt is versatile enough to make that move.

Hi Ed! I was watching the 1994 AFC championship game vs San Diegp. Do you think the Steelers had any chance to beat the 49ers that year in the superbowl? Looks like San Diego won with only 4 or 5 good plays.
Ed Bouchette
1:57
The 49ers drilled San Diego in the Super Bowl. The Steelers would have been underdogs, but I would have given them a chance.

Ed, with the talk of the Steelers passing on Marino, do you think that if the next franchise QB is there at 28 they should take H\im?  Ben is only one play from not playing again like Bradshaw,
Ed Bouchette
1:57
EVERY QB is only one play away from not playing. No, I don't see them drafting a quarterback in the first round or any round this year.

Hello Ed! If Ben wants to play 2 or 3 more years, do you think is a good idea wait 2 years until try to find his replacement? Not everyone are Tom Brady and Ben could start to decrease his level at any time. Wait to long to try to find his replacemente could be a mistake in my opinion.
Ed Bouchette
1:58
Drafting one now and not playing him for two or three years would be a bigger mistake, especially if he doesn't pan out. It could set you back years.

Hi Ed. Some people are suggesting the Steelers are eyeing one of the quarterbacks in this year's draft because of the number of good prospects. Do you see this as a possibility? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
1:59
All the good prospects will be gone and if one somehow slips to them, they should take a pass, not a passer.

Hi Ed, who gets to pick the banner pictures above each chat session?
Ed Bouchette

That's above my pay scale.

How is LJ Fort doing seems like he would be right there with Tyler Matakevich.
Ed Bouchette
2:01
It's April 10 and the Steelers offseason workouts don't even begin until April 16 and they won't be on the field for spring practices until the end of May. I think Fort is probably working out and enjoying some time off.

The 3 of the front 4 from the 70's passed relatively young in life.
Its such a shame. Do you believe there is a major correlation to playing in the NFL.
Ed Bouchette
2:02
There probably is in this sense -- Dwight White and L.C. Greenwood both died after complications from back surgeries. They probably needed those back surgeries because of their years playing football. Ernie Holmes died in a car wreck.

Do you believe that blocking from RBs and TEs is important?  Not everyone does.
Ed Bouchette
2:04
The Steelers believe it is important and I'm of that philosophy. Blocking and tackling are the fundamental elements of good football. You don't want to have a one-dimensional tight end, though. Ideally, you'd like a Heath Miller, who could do both. Le'Veon Bell can block too, especially on blitz pickups, which are so important. James Conner, for example, missed a blitz block last year vs. Jacksonville and it wound up in a pick-six interception.

I think that Martavis Bryant being on another team next year is a virtual certainty.  Do you agree?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
Yes, I do

Ed, If Bell doesn't get a deal worked out with the Steelers before the draft, do they have to pick a RB in the first 2 rounds? Can the afford to wait until the 2019 draft?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
They can afford to wait. It's the easiest position on the field for a rookie to make an impact

Brian Allen played almost exclusively special teams last year.  Do you think he will get some defensive snaps this year?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
He will get a chance, but for once in quite some time, cornerback is a little crowded with Hayden, Burns, Hilton, Sutton, Sensabaugh and Allen. There is some quality and young potential there.

Are teams currently allowed to have 90 man rosters? I saw the Steelers signed 3 Offensive lineman yesterday for camp bodies/depth I assume.
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Yes, 90 through cuts after camp
Mike from MI
2:07
The Steelers tagged Bell knowing he would miss camp etc.
Seems like another slow start. This is upsetting, not being there with your team for camp and the rest is somewhat detrimental. wwfs
What would Franco Say
Ed Bouchette
2:08
Franco had a contract when he held out of training camp in 1984 and the Steelers then cut him.
Andy
2:08
Do you think Hunter might get cut or is he likely to the 4th wideout?  He only signed a one year contract.
Ed Bouchette
2:08
It depends on whom they draft, if they draft one and how the competition shakes out.
mrbig
2:09
don't you think the steelers are having a really good offseason so far considering being handcuffed with Bell's tag & their reasonably-priced free agent signings?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
They did not lose anything in my opinion and gained a little. At best, they improved themselves slightly at safety and inside linebacker but they need more, which will have to come through the draft.

Any idea how Josh Dobbs training has been going this off season and what he is doing to prepare for year 2 in the NFL?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
No, I really do not

Are the Steelers in line to play a game in London soon?  Who has the say in determining the lineups?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
I believe they will send them to Mexico before they ever return to London. The NFL decides that.

Hello Ed, Better secondary: Burnett, Haden, Burns and Davis with Hilton and Sutton or Mitchell, Haden, Burns and Davis with Hilton and Gay?
