Good afternoon, let's begin
Daniel

For a team that does nothing but draft LBs early and often, how do they not have any depth, either inside or outside? Is it coaching? Scouting? Scheme?
Ed Bouchette
1:57
The injury to Ryan Shazier and the failure of Jarvis Jones are two big reasons. They have their two starters on the outside and we'll see who backs them up, perhaps Chickillo and Moats again. They signed a FA vet and have Vince Williams and Tyler Matakevich inside and likely another high draft pick there.

Do you think trading up is a possibility so the Steelers can get Leighton Vander Esch? Sounds like he would be a good fit!
Ed Bouchette
1:58
I agree he could be a good fit and they could get him at 28. I could see them moving up a few spots but not many because the cost is too high.

Hi Ed, RB has become a popular pic to the Steelers in Rd 1 in a lot of mocks. However, it seems every year RBs come out that can make an immediate impact. Do you think it would be best for the Steelers to focus on D in the 1st 2 or 3 rounds and draft Bell's replacement in 2019?
Ed Bouchette
1:59
Yes, I do. They made their choice to stick with Bell whether by franchise tag or long-term deal, so there's no real need to draft one, at least not in the first two days. If Bell leaves in 2019, draft one then.

Hi, Ed   Do you ever remember writing or saying on the air, "Tomlin really out coached [other coach] in that game"?  If so, what were the particulars?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
No, I've never said that, never crossed my mind because I don't know precisely what that would entail. I'm also not one to be picky on the time management stuff.

Of the times 'Martavis' is submitted in these chats, what % is it misspelled?
A) 94.0-95.9
B) 96.0-97.9
C) 98.0-98.9
D) 99.0-99.9
Ed Bouchette
2:01
Even some of his teammates refer to him as Martavias

During the season Tomlin had a care free “boys will be boys” attitude toward end zone celebrations. At the meetings he expressed disdain for them. Why the change?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
Because there really is nothing he can do about stopping them, even if he doesn
't like it

Can you recall another situation in the NFL's past similar to them deciding to review the catch rule in the SB differently than in the regular season? Your thoughts on this decision? I was less than pleased, although it did contribute to the Pats losing.
Ed Bouchette
2:03
No, I can't, but it was the logical thing to do in my opinion. They also did not change any rule or interpretation of it, they merely told Al that the call on the field had to stand unless there was clear evidence on replay to overturn it. The Eagles can thank the Steelers and Jesse James for that.

What would be a good trade for Bell?  Steelers need players not just one superstar. Patriots show you the pattern. We spend way to much on few!
Ed Bouchette
2:04
Forget it, they aren't trading him. He would have to sign the tender first.
2:06
Vander Esch -- taller by 2 inches, bigger by 24 pounds, faster by nearly .1

Hello Ed, Super Bowls are still won by controlling the line of scrimmage. Which OL or DL could you see going to Pittsburgh in the first round if that is indeed their focus?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
I don't see them drafting either in the first round
Dean Hawkins
2:07
Hi Ed. When do you think they will realize that the biggest problem with this team is the QB? Isn't it time to finally move on from him?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Did you write this two days ago, on April 1?

Is Eli Rodgers done as a Steeler?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I don't think anyone will sign him as a RFA because of his knee injury so maybe he will return at some point.

In your opinion, How would you assess the current Rod Woodson / Steelers relationship? Similar to Troy’s or better... Thx
Ed Bouchette
2:09
I would say better, but he's on the West Coast and does not live in Pittsburgh, as does Troy

2:10
Ed, would you be surprised if the team selected any other position outside of RB ILB or Safety in round # 1? Some prognosticators still believe QB.
Ed Bouchette
2:11
I think they will draft an ILB or safety, but CB always a possibility as is OLB

With GM Colbert's willingness to trade lower round draft picks in the past few seasons with no tangible returns (i.e. The Shamarko Thomas tradeup,  Brandon Boykin trade) why don't the Steelers "trade down" in later rounds and accumulate picks ala the Patriots? More picks  = more chances to nab a gem like  Antonio Brown in the 6th round (or God forbid, a Colin Holba) .  Do they really work the phones in the war room or dont they want to do the Forbidden Dance with other teams?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
So, you just trade down, pick up extra choices and draft the next Antonio Brown in the sixth round? Oh, if it were that easy.
Black Jack Bill
2:12
Do the Steelers get any conditional picks this year in the draft?  They could use a few more to supplement the loss of picks by Colbert in previous years.
Ed Bouchette
2:12
No, they received none.

Thanks for the chat, Ed. What makes Bell think that he is the trailblazer for RBs and needs to set the market? Does other RBs in the NFL look up to him or is it just his egomaniac thinking?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
I'm sure every RB in the league and in college are pulling for him to get the largest contract he can. He already is a trailblazer because he's making more money than any RB in the history of the game, and the Steelers have offered him by far the largest multi-year contract. That it's not enough to him is another matter.

Is it time for Mock Draft 425.0??? It is comical to see some of these fearless predictions from the so called draft experts!
Ed Bouchette
2:14
Mock drafts are supposed to be fun and not taken seriously. However, typical of sports nowadays, many do take them seriously, including those who pick them.
2:15
Here is my mock draft 0.0:

Ed, do you see an extension for Big Ben coming this off season?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
It could, but I think they will wait until 2019
