Good afternoon, let's begin
Kurt
1:57
With Saquan Barkley trying to be the new face of the NFL.  He says and does all the right things.    How do you think the Steeler's front office feel about Bell and his antics over the years?  It has to be hard to show Bell the money when you see a class act getting ready to take over in New York.
Ed Bouchette
1:57
They keep franchising him and trying to sign him long-term, so they must thing it's all worth it.

I know that undrafted players go undrafted for a reason but I am real intrigued by Quadree Henderson.  He could eventually fill a role in the slot and even be a poor mans Tavon Austin but more importantly, he could be the answer in the return game.  I would love to get AB out of that role.  Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
1:59
They would love to get AB out of that role, too. Henderson will have to show he does more than return, even if that is as a good special teams player in other areas too. I don't think he has a future as one of their top 3 or 4 receivers

Hey ED it only Rookie camp but so far who looked good on offense and defense to keep an eye out foe as camps move on
Ed Bouchette

It's really hard to judge sitting on the sideline watching rookies in their first pro camp without pads on. I thought the QB looked good, Mason Rudolph, from a technique standpoint

Will coach bradley get new safeties like edmunds and allen to play up almost like being inside linebackers , to cover tight ends or blocking backs turned receiver? Are they big enough and fast enough combination?
Ed Bouchette
2:01
They are big enough for safeties. They are not big enough to play the traditional ILB role in a 3-4 defense. There aren't many "blocking backs" to cover in the NFL. Safeties often cover the tight ends.
2:02
If you follow the Browns, you should know all is possible, especially 3 days before Halloween in their orange unis
AK
2:03
It seems to me with the sub package with a S playing ILB that the Steelers would be more vulnerable to the run.   Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
They would be more, but they go to that sub package when other teams bring out 3 and 4 WRs. It's a chess match -- and sometimes a guessing game.

Again, I know it's early, but your thoughts of the potential of Matthew Thomas from FSU making the team and having an impact?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
It's more than early, it hasn't really even begun. I know you don't want to hear this in May, but we'll find out more in training camp.

What is your favorite Steelers Super Bowl TD of all time?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
Has to be James Harrison's.

Ed, the Ravens signed RG3 and drafted Lamar Jackson. Does this signal the changing of the guard at QB in Baltimore? Could you see Flacco moving on to a team with an aging/soon to retire QB (NE, NO, NYG) if that happens?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
The Ravens absolutely signaled that Flacco's days are numbered. I'm not sure where he goes, but he will go no later than next year.

Hypothetical here, Ed: Doesn't Landry Jones have some trade value?  And, if so, wouldn't that make it more likely that he is the qb who is gone (via trade) at the end of training camp rather than Dobbs?  If they truly had a 1st rd grade on Rudolph, wouldn't it be reasonable for them to expect him to at least be able to handle the backup role?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Many, many teams have gone with rookie QB behind their veteran starter. It would depend on how quickly Rudolph comes along this summer.

Ed, is this the year Marvin Lewis wins a playoff game. Sorry, that was tough with a straight face.
Ed Bouchette
2:08
The Bengals must first find their way BACK into the playoffs.

Hi, Ed.  Any opinion on the legalization of sports betting?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
My heart goes out to the bookies because they are about to lose their jobs, or at least lose a lot of revenue.

Do you think Tom Bradley will have the same effect on the DB's that Munchak had on the OL last year?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
They could only hope he has that kind of effect.

Do you think there is any interest in having Dobbs work out as a WR?  Maybe develop him into a “slash” player?
Ed Bouchette
2:10
No, I do not
Maybe Mason Rudolph could do that

Randy Fichtner has two big jobs - quarterback coach and (rookie) offensive coordinator. Will these dual responsibilities affect his ability to develop Rudolph into someone who can take over as starter after 2019?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
I am surprised they do not have a coach whose only job is to coach the QBs, as they have had for years. Especially now that they have two young QBs, including a rookie they had rated so highly

I think Big Ben’s recent negative comments about the Steelers front office is the epitome of a team leader.Agree?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
They weren't negative. All he did was question why they drafted a QB instead of a defensive player, as many others have done.

Hi Ed, I’m currently reading your book... in general, did you enjoy writing it? To much work? Were you happy with the end result? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:15
That book, Dawn of a New Steel Age, was written during Bill Cowher's first year as coach, 1992, and finished after it. Almost the entire time, the papers in Pittsburgh were on strike but the PG kept a few of us working (the writers/editors guild was not out on strike, but laid off because of it). So I had plenty of time and it gave me something to do. It was enjoyable, yes, and glad I did it but it money vs. time really wasn't worth it.

Do you think players such as DHB, Grimble, Feiler, Fort, Sensabaugh, and Hunter have a place on next year's roster?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
A few might.

Who ends up with the green dot and calls defensive plays?
Ed Bouchette

Keith Butler

I say we let players smoke weed on the sidelines.Have vape pipes next to the Gatorade jugs.It will totally open up the offense!!
