If Bryant & Bell play 14-16 games each, and Juju steps up, I think this offense finally gets to that 30-35 PPG plateau, and is nipping on the heels of NE.........agree?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
The Steelers offense will be pretty darn good if all that happens and the others stay healthy.
2:19
They are not going to let Vince Williams go anywhere. He is their starting inside linebacker and earned a new contract last summer.

In your opinion, what has to happen this season to consider the draft class a big success in the first year?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
Draft classes do not always reveal themselves in the first year. It usually takes 3 or so. Last year was different for the Steelers because they had 3 starters.
2:21
However, I think they could get contributions from their top 3 again this year, maybe not as starters but as contributors.

can you elaborate on why it is you think the steelers and bell will not come to a long term deal?
Ed Bouchette
2:22
If you were guaranteed $12.1 million in salary this year, what would motivate you to sign a long-term contract that would average less than that? Because I don't think the Steelers are going to give him an average of $12.1 million on a long-term deal. And if you are the Steelers, why would you? You have him this year and, if you want, next year.
Running backs do not last long for the most part in the NFL and he has been suspended twice and hurt every year. So, giving him a big, big bonus would be a gamble in some ways.
2:23
Therefore, I do not see a lot of motivation on either side to do a long-term deal.

With the Pens in the SC playoffs, I've gotten a little lost with what's going on with the Steelers. Could you please enlighten me in that regards? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Yes, they open training camp at the end of July and resume play for real in September. Other than that, not much going on.
Ryno
2:24
What position or group would worry you the most in case of a couple injuries this season? I guess I'm asking where you see the least amount of depth, perhaps.
Ed Bouchette
2:24
Quarterback, offensive line and, of course, all over the secondary
Mark
2:24
Ed, were you in the room when Martavis claimed that he was a changed man, and if so, did it sound sincere?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
I was and he did, but words are words. He'll have to show it not tell it.
Yes, I can't think of anyone else.

2:26
With Green gone and no move to sign anyone else like Barnidge for example will the TE position likely be James, Grimble & Johnson barring a late season pickup after roster cuts?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
They signed a few young guys who have a chance like Scott Orndoff of Pitt and 6-8 Phazahn Odom, who looks like a pure receiving TE

Hi Ed, how could the steelers have missed so badly with L. Green? they're supposed to have to pass a physical before signing, right?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
Yes, and I assume he did pass.
Ryno
2:27
Did you shake your head when you saw Marvin Lewis comment that celebrations aren't good examples to set for young people, when some of his players are one step away from being convicts?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
They are apples and oranges, but I know what you mean.

Hello Ed, Thanks for all of your chats! How do you compare now Al Villanueva with Kelvin Beachum? We have forgotten Beachum but can we assume he is better than Beachum with two seasons under his belt?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
He probably has more upside, but Beachum did very well for being undersized and is now the starting LT for the Jets.

Any chance the Steelers pursue Kirk Cousins as a replacement for Big Ben next year? Not often a franchise QB makes it to free agency when your team needs it's solution for the next decade...
Ed Bouchette
2:29
That would assume that Ben does not play in 2018 and I would not come close to assuming that.

2:29
the 2 years that Golson was injured still count on his contract, so he only has 2 yrs left, correct?
Ed Bouchette
2:30
Yes. Only suspensions can be tolled. He's like Sean Spence, who missed two and left after 2 more.

Will any former Steelers player get a Football Life Feature on NFL Network?
Ed Bouchette
2:30
You may want to check with the NFL Network.
They did do one on Joe Greene and Chuck Noll kind of recently.

Is Bell showing his diva-ness by not showing at OTAs or not a big deal?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
No big deal. He knows the offense and cannot participate anyway. He's rehabbing
Chris
2:31
Where do you rank big ben if he gets atleast one more ring.
Ed Bouchette
2:32
Hall of Fame, but he probably gets there anyway.

since Justin Hunter was signed, Bryant has been reinstated and JuJu has been drafted. How many "tall" receivers can they keep given that guys like Eli (slot) and DHB (special teams) have unique skills that add to their value?
Ed Bouchette
2:33
DHB's most unique skill really is on special teams. He caught six passes in 10 games last season.

Ed Bouchette
