Enooooo! Great piece on Dozier! I'm flummoxed that he can perform at an above average capacity given such a singular approach - read: pulled balls in the air - that also leads to too many pop ups. How many years of quality production at 2B does he have left?

Yeah I do think it has ramifications for aging. At some point he'll be pulling those balls into the ground and it will look real bad. He's 29. If you're not in it in a keeper league, move him now. Even if I think he can be good this year.

He's throwing more sinkers, and it reads like pitching to contact in order to reduce pitches, but it's leading to more pitches. Command looks a little off. I'm not jumping off the bandwagon or anything.

Just finished your robot umps article. Great stuff! What do you think about the technical challenges presented in maintaining an accurate zone batter to batter? I know there are issues with PitchFX with that, especially the top and bottom of the zone.

You can tell the computer to measure the hitter and define the zone by their height, that's not so bad. But backdoor pitches and bouncing breaking balls for strikes are going to make people mad.
