I think you measure seasons by if there was something instantly recognizable and historically significant about them. Something any baseball history book has to mention. Like 1941 is memorable for Williams and DiMaggio. 1998 for McGwire and Sosa. Have there been any historically great storylines which we'll all be nostalgic for 50 years from now?

Why are injuries to pitchers while batting any more worrisome that injuries to batters while batting? Playing baseball is dangerous. We're not going to stop shortstops from hitting just cause they might get hurt. Why stop pitchers?

Designated batters for everyone! I hear this, but also: pitchers are separated from hitters from very early on, and look terrible at the plate, they don't really add anything but schadenfreude, no?

Pitchers may not add anything but schadenfreude, but any argument against the DH should start there, not with injuries. People get hurt playing baseball but that doesn't mean we should stop baseball.
