Dunno, junk might be just as stressful on the arm, particularly if it's a hard slider. Plus, you aren't practicing good command, so how good is your command going to be at 3-1? And then you'd walk guys sometimes on bad calls... Seems like a way to strike out one per inning and walk more than one every two innings...

So Golden Road started to distribute in MO. Is there anything I should check out or is it mostly meh?
Eno Sarris
12:20
Super meh for me. Wolf in the Weeds is aight. If you ever see their Gingerbread Stout, it's their best effort.

12:20
Whose retention is more surprising, TLR's or Preller's?
Eno Sarris
12:20
TLR. Preller bought all those kids, that's what he was supposed to do.
Cubs Fan
12:21
Let's assume for a moment the Dodgers win tonight. Would it make sense for the Cubs to drop a guy like Edwards or Grimm to accommodate Rob Zastryzny on the NLCS roster? Are the platoon advantages that desirable against a team like LA?
Eno Sarris
12:22
Definitely not Edwards, he's nasty. I think Grimm is nasty, too. You have Montgomery and Chapman and Wood, you're fine.

Harvey is already throwing again, doesn't that seem like a quick turnaround?
Eno Sarris
12:23
For Tyson Ross on same surgery they said 4-6 weeks so I guess not.

Some fans love to heckle ballplayers. Have you ever been heckled in person? Best story?

Youngman
12:24
Hey Eno I was wondering if you think Matt Kemp helped Freeman and the lineup at all? Or is a power presence or protection 100% false?
Eno Sarris
12:24
Protection, if it exists, comes from in front of you. It's easier to hit with runners on base because certain shifts aren't possible and pitchers have to respect the running game.

Much attention is getting paid to Baez's defense in the NLDS (rightfully so), but as a Cubs fan Albert Almora has me drooling. Do you think the Cubs offer a QO to Fowler and let him walk and replace him in CF with Almora? With regular playing time, what level of WAR would you guess Almora puts up?
Eno Sarris
12:26
I wouldn't be surprised if the team lets Fowler go because of the playing time crunch and makes Almora the D replacement for Schwarber, moving to CF and pushing Heyward to the corner. I don't love love Almora's bat, though, so I think he's more of a fourth OF.

Do you love watching Javy Baez play baseball as much as I do? Late round pick in fantasy next season, or the strikeouts and plate appearances worry you?
Eno Sarris
12:26
I'm worried that this postseason will inflate him beyond where he's a value, given that there's playing time risk until we know exactly what that roster looks like. I was wrong about Baez, for sure, I was overly worried about the strikeouts, I guess.

What should we make of the changes in SD?
Eno Sarris
12:27
Someone had to fall and the guys they fired weren't super popular and Preller had a fantastic signing season, probably, that saved his bacon.

12:28
I know WAR isn't everything, but when Scherzer is almost a win behind guys like Kershaw, Syndergaard and Fernandez, why is he the favorite to win CY Young?
Eno Sarris
12:29
One thing about WAR is that it's not a counting stat like other counting stats. It can be negative. So if there was regression coming for the other pitchers in order to meet the quantity from Scherzer, it could even out. With these names, it probably wouldn't have, but that's a bit of an argument for quantity.
12:30
spooky and I like it:

12:31
Eno! If you were a major league GM, would you rather have a ~4 WAR full-time DH, or would you prefer the flexibility to rest guys and take advantage of platoon splits that comes with keeping that spot open?
Eno Sarris
12:32
There have been 395 qualified DH seasons and 40 of them were four-win, so that's a star, basically the best DH in the game. Would I take David Ortiz over flexibility? Yes.

Like or eliminate possible SP sleepers: Eduardo Rodriguez, Manaea, Cotton, Norris, Paxton, Walker, Rodon, Bradley, Gsellman, Gausman, Moore, Devenski, Eickhoff, Musgrove, Robbie Ray, Jon Gray, Tyler Anderson, Archer
Eno Sarris
12:33
Love Cotton, Rodon, Gray, and Norris, they leap off the page. Archer is a track record bounce back guy rather than a sleeper, but I like him. Most of these guys are interesting and if they hit their peak projections, are going to be good. But those four are the ones I like best.

12:33
Do you think its smart to Piggyback Hill/Urias or would Roberts be better suited to insert a RHP in between to change the looks?
Eno Sarris
12:34
Of course you can play the platoon advantage and pitch Grimm against a few righties before you move on... Once the first couple innings are done, it's going to be a free for all and it's just about the next hitter.
Greg
12:34
What's your take on David Price in the playoffs? Surely doesn't seem like the same guy, and his team has never won a game when he's started.
Eno Sarris
12:35
I looked hard at him and all I could find was a few more cutters than usual, and better opposition. I bet he'll put in a few good appearances with more chances.
Darrin
12:35
If Coppy were to pair Ender and Albies, is that close to landing someone like Archer or Sale?
Eno Sarris
12:36
I think it would be, and thought you normally want to bet against a blockbuster like this... not impossible to me.
Jays Fan
12:36
Should I be worried about Marco Estrada matching up against a team thats good at hitting off-speed stuff?
Eno Sarris
12:36
I'd be worried for his cutter and curve, but that fastball/changeup combo is Rich Hillian.

A writer for Camden Depot has suggested that the Orioles should shop Tillman for prospects/outfielder since he'll be a free agent at the end of next season. I like the idea. What do you think?
Eno Sarris
12:37
I bet Tillman has very different valuations on the market. I'd certainly listen in case someone loves him.

i knew that you didn't mean next year as peak. I just didn't know if you thought Beni would develop more HR power or doubles power.
Eno Sarris
12:37
Yeah I think he's got Big Power in there.
The Lure of the Animal

Do you suspect reduced effectiveness on the second and third times through the order is due more to fatigue or hitters acclimating to the pitcher's stuff?
