Let's say a guy gets into a lot of two-strike counts and generates a lot of swining strikes, but for some reason pr another has an unimpressive strikeout rate. Would you expect the strikeouts to naturally rise up via regression, or is "putting hitters away" a skill that this guy probably lacks?
Eno Sarris
1:26
I would guess that guy throws a great changeup. Changeup whiff rates have the weakest relationship with strikeout rates, and I think weak contact is the answer why.

Thanks for the chat, Eno. In a keep forever, no salary league, who would you keep: Kyle Hendricks or Danny Duffy?
Eno Sarris
1:27
Duffy, I'll go with stuff.

Eddie Rosario has 828 at bats over two years with 23 HR and .268 average. I understand the horrible plate discipline. But he's starting for Minnesota. Why isn't he a $15 player?
Eno Sarris

Also gives back value in other ways, has been popped for PEDs, doesn't seem to have the trust of his team, funky swing... But yeah, he's interesting this year.

a converted hybrid pitcher/catcher (Bethancourt) is the most efficient use of a roster spot, True or False? and what would be the second most efficient type of position player to convert to sometimes pitching?
Eno Sarris
1:28
Third or fourth middle infielder!

Hi Eno, Just read that Colorado is likely to use Holland as closer instead of Ottavino. Do you have any info?
Eno Sarris
1:28
Yeah they've been saying that. I'm not sure that will hold all year, due to trade or injury or play.

Khris Davis = Chris Davis light with fewer walks that you can get a few rounds later?
Eno Sarris
1:30
Yup.

I believe the real March Madness is listening to announcers trying to talk about AA players once their 2 bulletpoint note cards are used up
Eno Sarris
1:31
I like it when they just wander into nothingness and start talking about fans and parks and the time they had a bologna sandwich with Tommy LaSorda.

Headed to Salt Lake this weekend for some skiing. Other than Uinta, what breweries should I check out?

Modern Family and Epic

If a pitcher's fastball and changeup speeds are converging, as is the case with Gio Gonzalez, what can he do to improve?
Eno Sarris
1:34
Get more movement on the change, I guess. IT's not a good sign.
Anthony

There's been a lot about the Rays throwing high fastballs in the past week or so. Should more guys be moving away from the 2-seam to counter the uppercut swing, or is more dependent on a pitcher's innate spin?
Eno Sarris
1:35
Yeah if you don't have high spin, you need to be a sinker guy. Doesn't mean you can't develop a cutter that you can throw high and tight.

How many leagues are you in? And of those, how many leagues do you REALLY care about? Favorite format?
Eno Sarris
1:35
Cut down to 9 and I care about all of them. Ottoneu might be my favorite. Either that or the straight 12-team redraft that's super classic.
Anthony
1:35
You hear about spin with fastballs, curveballs, and change-ups generally. Is there a relationship between spin and slider/cutter effectiveness?
Eno Sarris
1:36
Spin rate collection on those pitches is the worst. The hardware drops readings and also makes false readings. And there are so many different sliders/cutters that it's hard to know how to classify the bunch.

is there a forum on here for leagues looking for fantasy players?

Look on RotoGraphs. We have a matchmaker service link in Draft Tools now!

Epic has an amazing tasting room in SLC. Have to buy food to drink, but a 5 pound meat plate is like 1o bucks.

Eno Sarris

As I've ever been. The kids are amazing, my wife is too, live where I want to live, do what I want to do for work. Anything I'm working on is around the edges, and I have y'all to thank for that.

A Venn diagram of cutters and sliders would have pretty significant overlap, and different people would call it different things.
Eno Sarris
