What Grade is Lugo's curveball?

I'd give it a 60. Maybe 70. It's high spin, but it's not as clear how important that is for a curve, and it's only 77/78, the best curves are 81+.

Interestingly, when seen in tandem with my enjoyment answer, a guy like Danny Salazar comes to mind. I think I know why, but it's frustrating that a guy with that frigging raw stuff isn't dominating despite iffy command.

Am I crazy to think the A's are kinda interesting as a sleeper? I love the pitching depth, the bullpen could be nasty, and the offense doesn't have stars, but does have a bunch of league average players. They'd have to stay healthy in the middle infield, but if they do, 1B is the only obvious major weakspot, and if Alonso's swing changes don't work Maxwell can come up and push Vogt and Healy over.

I think it -- once again -- looks like an 81-83 win team. If they do break out, it's because Cotton and Manaea are ace-like, quickly, and Healy AND Alonso break out.

pitch clocks have been around forever in some minor leagues -- i remember in the old northern league back in the mid-90s, they had a 45 second clock that started once the ball got tossed back to the pitcher -- games were plenty competitive and entertaining

The guys at CBS keep saying DeLino has won the LF job and is leading off. DO you have reason to believe either of these are true? Seems like when Gomez get's back he'll lead off and Lino will platoon with Profar/Rua?

I hadn't heard this yet, so I don't know what to believe. Seems like he'd be the vs LHP part of a platoon, but it's not like Rua and Profar have made the decision for the team.
