Dave wrote about Wood maintaining his velocity bump after transitioning back from the bullpen to starting. Is it pretty standard for a pitcher moving from the pen to the rotation to see an immediate dip in velocity? The velocity gain moving to the pen is well documented, just wondering if Dave was assuming the inverse is true or if it's measured.

Usually you lose but recently we've seen a bunch of guys, at least in-season, keep the velo boost. Duffy, Carrasco come to mind first.
