Apparently this is obpmusic, so it can get on base or what

Vampire Tanaka struggled in the evening last night. Was it the dome? Or is there just no rhyme/reason at this point?
Eno Sarris

As much as I've advocated for the no fastball approach, I think it might lead to this sort of thing. Dave Righetti once told me that if you throw that many sliders, you'll lose it for stretches. He was talking about Romo, who was the original All Breaking Ball Guy.

Has the flyball / swing revolution reached the minors? If not, how might that impact guys who look ready to make an impact?
Eno Sarris
12:02
Every day sees more FanGraphs readers in the minor leagues. Absolutely sure there are guys we can find. Look at Hoskins, he's hitting 50% fly balls and loving life. Ryder Jones just told me he used plate discipline (like Bruce) to lift the ball better.

Thoughts on Chad Pinder? Obviously the most minuscule of sample sizes, but his defense in an OF corner looks FANTASTIC. Think he could hit enough to warrant an everyday RF spot?
Eno Sarris
12:04
There's a guy that flipped his batted ball profile in the minors and is showing great power in the bigs. Looks a bit like Ryon Healy out there, but you're right the OF glove is fantastic. To the point that I might try him in center. Dude was a shortstop not too long ago.

Talks of the Yanks as AL East Champs and Red Sox demise premature or will it still end up that way?  Sox are rollin'
Eno Sarris
12:05
I picked the Yanks as the wild card and am sticking with it. Tho, if you look at the Sox with the right kind of eyes, the team doesn't look amazing.

is this thing on?

Man I had to search to finish off that interlude.

Curious for your take on the O's and Hellboy. He's looked ok in 2 starts, but it was super dumb, right?
Eno Sarris
12:07
They had like a 5% chance of going to the playoffs, right? But yeah, I mean they keep trading (they were second heaviest traders since 2000 in our study) and that has something to do with why they haven't 'found' a back end pitcher in their own system.

Why would you go on that hacky radio station 95.7 the game? Youre better than those neanderthals Eno
Eno Sarris
12:08
Sooo were you listening or? Haha, I don't mind them at all. The other main choice in the area is pretty staid, sometimes downright boring.

I feel disappointed that the Yankees are breaking from tradition and putting names on their jerseys. If there was ONE team that could've just told MLB "naw, pass" to a cheesy promotional gag.
Uncle Rico
12:09
These nickname jerseys are terrible.  That being said, what would yours say?
Eno Sarris
12:10
I don't hate this at all. I had a lot of fun looking through each team and seeing a) who didn't participate at alls and b) what they put on the jerseys. Some were boring, the uniforms look terrible, but the idea? I don't hate the idea at all.
12:11
In reality, I'd probably be boring and just put Eno on there, though I do like the idea of just having a first name and that's it. Tempted to put my middle school nickname (Enis the Penis) on there, would never put high school dorm nickname on there (Dink, because I grew a foot and added fifteen pounds in four years).

Where does Paxton rank for you at the moment?
Eno Sarris
12:11
Top fifteen at worst.
Sterling Mallory Chris Archer
12:12
Where is Whit Merrifield going to be drafted next year? Is he a legit 5 category player?
Eno Sarris
12:13
Here's perhaps a surprising answer: yes. Looks like a good hit tool to me: power and contact. Power enough, and more fly balls than ground balls, that I'm going to give him an average ISO or slightly better. Stole bases at every level. Doubt he goes real high, but he's a good player.

Who do the Mets go after in the offseason? Lots of money coming off the books this year.
Eno Sarris
12:16
Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas and a boring vet pitcher like Trevor Cahill, Brett Anderson, Jaime Garcia... there are actually a bunch of pitchers like this going on the market, I think they'll get one. Chris Tillman, Clayton Richard. Jeremy Hellickson.
Buff
12:16
Thoughts on Chris Flexen? Is he better than his major league numbers would indicate?
Eno Sarris
12:18
His fastballs are pretty bad. Back end guy. Maybe if he really pushes that percentage down while keeping walks down he can be their sixth guy next year.
Zac

Eno!   I'm in second place in a 10-team dynasty and I'm within reach.  My hitting sucks and I've been Goldy/Barreto for Robles/Vlad Jr./Juan Soto.   Pull the trigger?
Eno Sarris
12:18
Yeah I'd do it.
12:19
Vlad and Robles are good but very young. Even if they hit their ceilings, you'll have a chance to buy the next guys like that in the meantime, and you're a contender.
Zonk

The Cubs, after a hot streak post-break, are back in the mud, and just lost their hottest hitter (Contreras).  78% to win the Division seems high to me, as nearly every player continues to under perform.  What is your take?
Eno Sarris
12:20
That under performance is the key. Projections have them playing to their norms and that's the source of the odds. I still see them as favorites.

How do you see the Braves clearing the way for Acuna in 2018? Who goes Kemp or Markakis?
Eno Sarris
12:20
I doubt either has any value. Maybe Markakis just slides into fourth role.

Hey Eno, visiting my beer fan brother this weekend and thought I'd try to bring a bottle or two for him. Any good NYC beers he doesn't normally see in DC? (Unfortunately I'm really far from the Single Cut brewery.) Thank you!

Cans travel best. Other Half, Grimm, Threes all close, distributed in the city, get an IPA from any. Grimm bottles great sours, too.
(though don't get the raspberry pop, the one with lactose, that was p gross)
