62% of balls hit > 400ft at AT&T park have been HRs...only 8% have not been XBHs.  It may have to do more with the fog/wind suppressing fly ball distance than how far the fences are.

re: Manager WAR, Thomas Boswell likes to look at the BaseRuns-Actual split over time. It's noisy in single or even a couple seasons, but for longer careers it actually tracks reasonably well with the generally-agreed-upon best and worst managers (but delivers some surprises!).
