Just when we thought the free agent market was thawing, Boras pours dry ice all over it with a demand for 8 or 9 year offers for Hosmer...

took the extra week off work, so now I'm using your chat to ignore family instead of work. happy new year!

There's, like, a 2% chance that "Black Panther" is the greatest movie ever made.

What do you drink when you do a "bad beer" night?  Hamms?
Eno Sarris
12:48
Usually only when forced to at certain spring parks, but then Coors Banquet.

San Diego supposedly turned down Perodomo or Lamet and Hand for Baez. Good call?
Eno Sarris
12:50
Four years of control! I'd take Baez for Perdomo and Hand in a second, yes. I guess they want quantity?

Steamer's got 19 jacks for Devers... As a Devers keeper owner, please tell me this is low.
Eno Sarris
12:51
I'll take the over.

Is there any chance Hosmer is actually better at 1B than publicly available data suggests to the point where he is a good defender at 1B? No, right? Like they could all be a little low on him for some reason, but there is nothing that suggests he could actually be good, right?
Eno Sarris
12:51
Yes there is this chance. At the same time, though, his ground-ball approach seems to make him BABIP-dependent, more than most sluggers.

Eno, two keeper quandaries: josh Bell for $9 or Marwin for $8?  Faria for $8 or Jordan Montgomery for $4?  Thanks!!!
Eno Sarris
12:52
I like Montgomery but probably Faria and Bell.
With Faria's depressed velo, might explore trading him in the keeper portion and holding J-Mont.

ryan needs to learn statistics and how to code.
Eno Sarris
12:53
I think that was the given, he's asking where he should turn his attention given those tools. At least that's what I saw.

12:53
Eno, is the movement data for pitchers useful to compare to past years?
Eno Sarris
12:53
If you use Brooks, yes. Part of the reason we use them now on our pages.
Connor

What ever happened to Brett Lawrie
Eno Sarris
12:54
His 14-pack multiplied until he was just one big abdomen.
12:55
Seriously, I'd guess that people decided he wasn't good in the clubhouse (I thought he was just garden variety bro), his D wasn't great, and he had such a weakness against breaking balls that he wasn't a great signing.
Bob Villar
12:55
was offered Rendon for Buxton and either A Sanchez/B. Snell.  It's not stupid to reject that, right?
Eno Sarris
12:55
You believe in Buxton, that's fine.

As a driver of a manual transmission I like to experiment with shifter knob grips and my circle change has produced nice results lately.

Slow offseason. Buster Olney's kids probably think he got fired.

I have no fewer than two warm, cuddly cats sleeping with me as I remain wrapped in blankets, inside, while the Northeast is wrapped in blankets of snow, outside.

What are some good indicators of future reliever success? Looking for potential fantasy sleepers.
Eno Sarris
12:57
Strikeouts and velocity for fantasy. Main thing. But deeper, I think standout pitches are actually worth pursuing, at least for real-life team front offices. If you look at how the Orioles built their pen, it looks like a collection of oddities, standout weirdo pitches. They've been great.

What do you see Wilmer Difo's role being in 2018? What about long term?
Eno Sarris
12:57
Infield utility, possible cheap meh starting two B after Murphy leaves.
Slamboni
12:58
Do you think all the hype with Fernando tatit Jr is legit? I mean he dud crush AA last year... as a freaking 18 year old
Eno Sarris
12:59
Yeah for sure. Major question is if he's going to play first. If he plays first, he could be the rare top ten prospect that may not give much defensive value.

The Padres' beat writer said that the team's offer is actually lower than the rumored 7 year, $140 million price tag and that the Padres don't plan to bump their offer up all that much from where it is. Who is fibbing for leverage? Boras? The Padres? Another team? All parties involved?
Eno Sarris

In this case, and in many many many cases when it comes to rumors, usually the agent. Gotta love the agents, though, they have their clients backs even more than the dang MLBPA.

Which Nick Williams, Rhys Lightnin', Odubel, Altherr loses the most playing time next year with the Stanton signing?
Eno Sarris

As a righty, probably Altherr.

In Ottoneau format, who wins in a trade of an $11 Justin Smoak for a $5 Jesse Winker?
Eno Sarris

Winker.
