2020 will be a bad year in SF, but 2018 should be a great year, right? Right? Please?
Eno Sarris
12:54
Wouldn't it be sorta awesome if they did a worst to first after everyone yelled at them to rebuild

When you consider that Wade Davis just signed a 3 year $52 million deal, does that make Brad Hand's 3 year $19.7 million deal (with a club option for year 4 at $10M) the best deal of the offseason? If not, who?
Eno Sarris
12:55
Can't compare them because Hand replaced some arb years there. All the deals signed before Free Agency turn out to be better than the FA deals.

This may be a bit of a long shot but I’m heading to Tulum Mexico (south of Cancun) this weekend and am wondering if you have any beer recommendations. Happy to subsist on Modelo for a week but if there’s something special I would love to know about it

I went to my honeymoon there! They're taking hotels away from people there, weird stuff going on, land rights battle, but it's beautiful and quiet and amazing. Have some mixed drinks.

Did you know Kevin Youkillis took over a brewery? The Greek God of Hops!
Eno Sarris
12:57
Yah, have had a few beers with him since I wrote this http://beergraphs.com/bb/1074-kevin-youkilis-new-beer-soaked-adventure...

Where does Andrew Triggs land -- bullpen or rotation?
Eno Sarris
12:57
Rotation at first, if the team is good and he's meh, then bullpen for one of the young guys.

I like Friedman's overall process, but isn't it a little strange how the Dodgers strongly adhere to depth in lieu of asset consolidation?  They have 2 starting caliber C's and 5 starting-caliber OF's including Toles and Verdugo...
Eno Sarris
12:58
Depth seems like a really good way to get to the postseason, but I think there's a little evidence that it's not as valuable thereafter.

Dbacks ran into "issues" installing the humidor last year (read into that what you will). It should be up this year.

I tried moving closer to home plate but I'm still the worst defensive CF in the game. Do I just suck now?

What are the chances Madison Bumgarner returns to his pre- 2017 form?
Eno Sarris
12:59
Velo was pretty much back by the end of the year. I think he'll be better than his projections.

Smash your leftover tamales into some chilaquiles the following morning.  Thank me later.

Should there be a luxury tax floor? Same penalties for being under as being over?
Eno Sarris
1:00
I think that might help get some middle class free agents some jobs, might also cost some young players jobs.

Have you ever talked with Chad Green? Has he always thought of himself as a Rotation guy? Think he'll be great, just curious
Eno Sarris
1:01
I have, but not about that. We talked spin and release rates and cutter/slider. I told him he should trust the splitter more and asked him if the two breakers blend together. He didn't think they did.

FYI- Tim Anderson will be the biggest breakout star of 2018.
Eno Sarris
1:01
I could see it actually. Just a little bit better decision making at the plate could lead to a .275/20/30 type season, and his D is really good. I just don't think the k/bb/obp will ever be that good.

Loved the piece by Edwards this morning on the Braves trying to compete this year, if they wanted to be a little less ambitious and more frugal, would a trade for C. Frazier and a signing of someone in the Walker (at 3b) or Todd Frazier mold work?
Eno Sarris
1:02
One thing I don't have a sense of is how much Liberty is committed to spending. They've rejected deals in the past, deals that were just about to be sent to the player to sign.

I think we'll all be busy typing next month. Oh and I'm heading back to Merida for my tenth anniversary in the middle of it so awesome.

Re: Morton: late last year he mentioned retiring early in an interview. Didn't hear anything after that, but has me worried. (Though obviously it's his life! Fantasy baseball makes me a bad person...)
Eno Sarris

I think he'll play out his contract, money is still good.

How do you look for HR suppression stuff? In a few pods last year you mention the side to side (cue ariana grande) movement can suppress HR, does fangraph have the data for pitchers to research (i.e. H movement)?
