Looking through some of the statcast data, and it looks like Jose Martinez on the cardinals was pretty freakin awesome! He had a good 95+ mph rate, #5 at xwOBA, #1 at xBA. Yet he seems to be getting no love because of playing time. Think he'll make an impact this year?

per the starting pitchers converting to closers, giving them a higher floor, a la morrow... helps to throw gasolina with some serious hop and have a wipe out secondary.  not every starter that lives around 92 can reach back and throw 97 because its a shorter burst- and not every starters 4 pitch arsenal can be pared down to 3 wipeout pitches.   ie- don't see the floor being higher unless the pitcher in question has a certain skillset...    ah geeze

True, but the average guy gets 1.7 mph in going to pen, and some gain more. That's why I would try to test my guy as a reliever, maybe sell him as one, just to field more offers.

Some theory that acid reflux is from not being able to make enough acid during the meal, not being able to cut through heavy food, and therefore churning acid the rest of the night. So the vinegar primes the pump, gets you going. Fizzy water to disrupt the heavy food and bring some burps up.

Not as much now. There are a ton of platoon options there, he's a righty, I've seen him get really down on himself for stretches, and I'm thinking we've seen his best.
