Good morning from Tempe, AZ and Happy New Year. I'm here for about an hour to answer your (mostly) prospect questions.
I could link to the various things, lists and Board and such, but I trust folks know where to find that stuff and know how to use it by now (if you don't, say so in chat)

Who are your top 3 fantasy prospects from the 2021 draft?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:05
I guess if I'm thinking about them in a fantasy sense I'd have Mayer, Watson and Davis top 3. Mayer and Watson biggest ceilings, Davis combo of position and power very enticing. I don't play fantasy so I'm less familiar with the value of rostering someone with the accelerated timeline of a Leiter or Cowser compared to pure assumed upside

Ceiling and floor for Austin Martin?  If you were the Twins, would you consider trading him for a starting pitcher?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:06
Ceiling is a Zobrist-y type player, floor is something like Luis Urias has been? Narrow band of outcomes for Martin, not likely a big impact guy due to lack of raw power.

what under the radar prospects  could have an impact on the 2022 major league season
Eric A Longenhagen
12:10
depends on how sensitive your radar is, i guess. My gut reaction was to say Cole Henry, but that's a guy who might be on our top 100 so how the hell is he under the radar? Michael Burrows? Efrain Contreras? Zach Logue? Again, all these guys firmly on the radar in my opinion.

Logan Warmoth didn't even get a mention on the Blue Jays list. Does he even have a potential MLB future anymore?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:11
IMO, nothing more than emergency call up stuff. Your milemage may vary, I suppose. 26 y/o passed over for 40-man/Rule 5 a few times, 33% K% at Triple-A

12:11
How worried should the Yankees be about Jasson Dominguez?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:12
Not worried, just let it play out.

12:12
Who has the highest ceiling: Ed Cabrera, DL Hall, or Cade Cavalli?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:12
Hall, 3 plus pitches

Does a Statcast type system exist for all minor league stadiums? If so, what prevents that from being made public as I imagine there would be a lot of interest in checking out this type of data in prospects.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:12
long-ish answer incoming...
12:13
Yes, every minor league park has either a hawkeye system, a trackman unit, or both. data is shared among the teams. some if it is public either by accident (like all the low-a southeast data via baseball savant) or because someone is sourcing it from teams and publishing it en masse (like some of the rudimentary, but useful stuff on The Board)
12:14
it's not public because MLB has no incentive to make it public (our general interest is not sufficient) and the raw data is often too messy to be useful without someone skilled cleaning it up for use

Eric why is Kevin Alcantara so high in Cubs system he's barely played.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:16
If you can believe it, Alcantara has had the same FV grade for literally several years, so was this high on him back when he had played even fewer games. He's freakish. Elite size and rotational athleticism, rare capacity for movement. Mira:
that's not normal
12:17
I guess my question to CC is, "Why is how much a player has played a driver for where they should rank for you?" Juan Soto played in fewer games than any debutante since ARod, he's doing fine. The guy who has played the most games in the minors, whoever that is, is he one of the better prospects?

Thoughts on Jordan Viars?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:20
From his draft report: Viars is a young, big-framed Texas high school outfielder who is likely headed to a corner in pro ball. He's short to the ball despite his size, and currently peppers both gaps with doubels contact. He's was an athletic two-way high schooler who will be a right field dev project in pro ball.
I imagine it'll be similar on next week's Phillies list

I know it’s early, but who do you see as the top 3 prospects for the upcoming draft?
Jelly
12:21
Bubba Chandler a pitcher or infielder?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:21
These guys tend to end up on the mound, don't they?
Max
12:21
Should Bobby Witt, Adley Rutschman and Josh Jung be on opening day rosters? Seems like they have nothing left to prove in the minors right?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:21
i bet they're all capable, yes
CY
12:22
I know he’s not a “prospect”, but how do you see Suzuki transitioning to MLB?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:22
From the international portion of The Board:
It's tough to say whether this would be exploited more in MLB and impact his success, and it's even harder to say whether Suzuki will be able to adjust to MLB velocity (pitchers' fastballs in Japan averaged 90 mph in 2021) until we see him face it. He has the talent to be an everyday right fielder with some hit tool risk because of the leap in stuff he'd need to deal with.

Is the “sticky stuff” regulated in the NCAA? Is it known which pitchers utilize it in scouting circles and is it even considered a negative?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:24
Substances are definitely applied to the ball in college, just watch the pitchers between pitches and you can see them pretty consistently thumbing inside their belt/pants. It's known about, it isn't considered a negative in my experience, probably because it's so pervasive.
