Maybe, but the shape of his fastball may also be a barrier. Still a good player, I'm not one to throw around TOR.

Is Bobby Miller’s command going to be good enough to be a top of the rotation starter?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:33
The graduated Braves who I was too low on are probably both 60s. I still think Harris' walk rate indicates some amount of regression, though. Grissom I'd still 45, he's good.

Do you have updated FVs on Strider/Harris/Grissom?  Grissom obviously may not have moved as much...
Eric A Longenhagen
12:32
His power is closer to average
Alan
12:32
Are? Endy Rodriguez’s power numbers legit
Eric A Longenhagen

I'll say Lynch. Healthier, like how loose and fluid his delivery is.
Freddy

More likely to be a post-hype success: Spencer Howard or Daniel Lynch?

Eury Perez for Anthony Volpe. Who says no?
Eric A Longenhagen

The plate discipline piece there is pretty scary, but he is an up-the-middle type with 70 bat speed so it's totally defensible to have him there based on what his high-end outcomes are, even if there's risk

is Miguel Bleis someone who might jump into 50 tier this cycle or is that a little early?
Eric A Longenhagen

Some teams seems to be like a half decade ahead of others in their use of kinatrax and other means of assessing movement, finding things that can be improved, and implementing those changes to players' mechanics.

Did more teams utilize Hawk-Eye in the minor leagues this year? Any word on any edges teams gained from the data?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:27
Premium plate discipline, big time soft skill player, agree there's not a ton of power tho

What kind of player can Evan Carter be? Seems he is solid all around - and very young - but are there any standout tools?

couple years ago you were still high on india apparently believing injuries had hid his true talent . Anyone. Come to mind this year in a similar fashion?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:25
Probably not, but yes the Cubs absolutely took advantage of the A's not yet knowing what they had there.

Daniel Palencia. Top pitching prospect in baseball potential? Absolute heist by Hoyer

Depends if you live here or if you're visiting. If you're visiting *do not* come here during Fall Stars. Come during one of the mid-October Saturdays when you have a triple header. You're costing yourself looks at players if you come for Fall Stars. Just try to incorporate as many double ups into your schedule as possible

Trying my hand at scouting during the AFL. Tips for making my schedule? Best restaurant/bar to meet up with other scouts at night?

Legit defensive SS. Go look at the shortstops who accumulated 2-3 WAR this year and tell me if they're monster offensive players.

Why was peyton graham ranked 10th despite having a 4 hit tool and 5 power
Eric A Longenhagen
12:22
I'd look at it as a function of time more than injury risk (though wouldn't ignore the persistent injury risk), as if they're players on track to debut in 2024 like that similarly-talented college pitchers from this year's draft. Probably near or just outside the top 100. Meyer already moved.
Tyler
12:21
How much of a hit do Shane Baz and Max Meyer take on a list knowing they won't be healthy and in the majors until at least their Age-25 seasons?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:20
I think he's probably a great reliever

Is Hunter Brown a future ace or more of a 2-3 starter?

Given what I know about how people have cheated at gambling throughout history, it's entirely possible. Do i think it's true? Probably not.

With the recent vibrator controversy in chess and poker do we really think it was that outrageous for the Astros to have been using buzzers?
Eric A Longenhagen

Sitting 93-95, has swing-and-miss ability at top/arm side part of zone, slider and changeup both big league average, maybe changeup can keep getting better. solid stuff contributor, probably not huge impact

Thoughts on Rays RHP Michael Mercado's season? Preseason prospect had him with a velo increase, and he seemed to pitch better after adding a cutter mid season. K numbers were good, overall ERA middling.

Ortiz will be in the top 100 update, Westburg is part of a group of upper-level infielders who defense needs to be re-evaluated in light of the banned shift. What are his realistic defensive homes now that he doesn't get a lift from the shift? How does he fit there. Guys who shift to 1B/3B, it's a much higher bar than the MIF

Welcome back, missed these chats! Jordan Westburg, Conner Norby, and Joey Ortiz have all had successful seasons. Any chance one, or more, crack the top 100? 45 FV, or above for all 3 now?

It's very difficult to include "makeup" at scale for a number of reasons. To do so for the couple thousand players I write up is nearly impossible, to say nothing of the person to person variation in the way they define makeup. I'll stumble into some stuff just through conversation with scouts and front office personnel but I'm not actively trying to incorporate it into my evals across the board.

How do you factor in makeup into your grade for a player? Example of someone you may have bumped up or down because of stories you’ve heard

Thomas Saggese went from a 40 on the '21 list to unranked in this years despite a strong debut season. Is he firmly back in the 40 range after a his showing this year in hi-a and cameo at Frisco?

(obvs the questions and answers are inverted here. I actually can't modify that mid-chat, my bad)
