6 run 6 bat SS who hit with wood on the Cape. I get it, that guy goes mid to late rnd 1 every time.

Why does Bellinger have a 45 grade as a runner? At 28.9 ft/sec, he's tied with Andrew Stevenson, who is also a 70. What gives? 2 and a half grades is a very large gap, and league average is 27.0 ft/sec.

Sprint speed is peak speed and peak speed does not factor in acceleration. Our grades are based on home to first times, which obviously have a component of acceleration. Also, we don't update prospect tool grades after they graduate. Yet.

When evaluating pitchers, does their come a certain point where you see no plus offerings or plus/plus command but this guy is just really, really good at getting outs and you're like how is he doing this?
Eric A Longenhagen

Yes but we think we (and baseball) are starting to better understand where that stuff comes from.

Tyler O'Neill wasn't on the Cardinals prospect list, so I guess he must have graduated from eligibility. How high could he have been ranked if he was still eligible? Between Cardinal fans clamoring for Harper and ownership talking up Fowler it seems like O'Neill has been forgotten, which is strange because he had one of the best years of any prospect last season. His AAA numbers were unreal, and his defense and speed looked much better than advertised in the majors (29.5 ft/s sprint speed, top 20 in MLB)

I'd have a 50 on ONeill

Are you in or out on Jesus Sanchez? His batted ball profile makes it look like he's changing his swing every year. Even with his loud tools, combine it with his questionable plate discipline and it's not my favorite look for a prospect.

It's definitely kind of scary but he's so talented that I'm in.
Like Nick Williams was scary but so talented and he's flawed but fine, right? Same kind of thing.

How does J.J. Bleday compare to recent 1st-round college hitters?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:23
He's one of those guys I haven't asked anyone about because I'm just gonna see him in mid-February.

You'd probably be happy to hear that Statcast is adding acceleration soon to Savant (i think)

Any chance Kevin Maitan  turns into a top-50 guy again?

Very doubtful

Do any of Reid-Foley, Pannone, Bourucki, Thorton, or Zeuch have mid rotation potential?
Eric A Longenhagen

I think they're all in the 40-45 range

I was a little surprised to see a 60 FV on Trammell. Do you think he has a shot to be considered a top 5 prospect a year from now?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:24
Not sure that kind of in-game pop is in there.

Gavin Lux had very similar numbers to Carter Kieboom...what does he need to do to be comparable in terms of FV?

Reports on his throwing indicate he can't stay at SS, which is bizarre considering he was a glove-first HS prospect.
Okay frands, I've gotta go. See you next week. Merry Christmas to those celebrating it next week.
