Wieters' projections were cartoonish

Talk me down from being so excited about Jonathan Ornelas. Seems like there's a chance for five tools at short and he's holding his own in full season at 19.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:32
No, I'm excited too
Luca

The A’s have a tendency to have players perform above their prospect rankings (Chapman, Olson, Pinder, etc). Who amongst their minor leaguers do you see as capable of being able to outperform their prospect status someday? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:33
If you told me Daulton Jefferies was going to be healthy forever I'd say him.

Is Nick Allen a GUY?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:33
maybe Nicky, too

thanks to the entire team for all the work. this repository of research and articles is really something else, and none of us should take its availability for granted.
to my q -- with the imminent signings of Bleday and Misner, and the report from a local Florida paper that Bleday will be sent to Jupiter, was wondering if the Board (TM) will be updated with all the draftees' level assignments soon.
Thanks again, kind and noble prospector.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:34
thanks, Kiley and I work hard to do all this stuff on our own and we're glad you find it useful. The Board auto updates as soon as the player plays a game at that level.

Dodgers need a reliever.  Any inhouse options they can look at, at this point? I'm tired of seeing a scenario to get an "elite" bullpen arm with a starting package of Dustin May and Gavin Lux.  Thanks, Eric
Eric A Longenhagen
12:35
sure, they could 'pen Gonsolin

12:36
Can you rank Balazovic, Graterol, May, Patino and Grayson Rodriguez?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:36
they're ranked
David
12:36
Did you see robel Garcia in the minors? Thoughts on what he may be.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:37
i did not and have no idea. An exceptional situation. Hope he mashes, it'd be a great story.

With the Change to AAA Ball, are you expecting to see fewer in-season pitcher promotions from AA to AAA? Barring filling a need.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:38
Yes, I don't know how widespread it will be but I imagine some teams will want to avoid it. But also, it's the big league ball and they may want them to start dealing with it now rather than in the big leagues.

Any thoughts on Andy Pages' rookie league performance so far?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:42
seems about right. Gotta be careful with PIO slugging

Where would Wander Franco go in Fangraphs' Franchise Draft if the draft extended beyond one round?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:43
He went round 1 and I'm pretty sure I'd take him round 1 somewhere, probably in the 10-15 range, 12-20 range maybe

12:45
Are you hearing good things about wilderd Patino?

Matt Tabor dominating. Any increased velo here?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:45
nope

12:46
Are you guys going to be doing updates throughout the season on prospect FV's or not really?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:46
we shall
Anthony

Are you or Kiley planning a trip to the Cape in person this summer?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:46
I doubt it

The Astros have a logjam in the Outfield and a desire to add to their Starting Pitching.  Which sellers match up best with them?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:49
SFG (huge gap) then maybe BAL or Toronto?
Brian
12:49
Any pop-up prospects this season who you'd recommend for fantasy owners?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:50
The way I see it, we put out the buffet and you put what you want on your plate rather than have us bring you dinner.

The Astros seem to have trouble developing starting pitchers through their farm system...McCullers (5 years ago) was the last one who's had success...Appel and Martes flopped, Martin, James, C. Perez, Valdez have been bad at the MLB level this year, and Whitley and Bukauskas have been bad in the minors. Is this a fair assessment/worthy of concern or an overreaction?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:50
overreaction
12:52
Appel was a softy, Martes was overrated, Martin went from college relief type to top 100 prospect then broke, James development into what he became is incredible considering what he was, Perez had a bad medical when he signed and still become something, Valdez signed at 22 and looks like a big league reliever
you have to view outcomes in context with expectations
Anthony
12:53
If you think Lewis is unplayable at SS, do you anticipate knocking him down from #2 overall in your top 100 reevaluation?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:53
no, he'll be fine at either 2B or CF and league-wide SS wRC+ is actually higherthan you think right now

Baseball has progressed in do many ways, but the US women's soccer teams openness about their LGBTQ players and community highlighted how backward baseball (almost any male sport in fact) still is in that arena. It's 2019 and we still have no openly gay players!
