As relievers prove to be more valuable in free agency and trades, does that have any impact on their placement in your prospect rankings?
Eric A Longenhagen

I considered this when those midyear deals were made but ultimately decided WAR was a more reliable and accurate way to govern the lists.

I was intrigued by this report on a low-minors Dodgers arm:
Francis Cespedes, LHP (video) – Extremely loose lefty who touches 100 and sits 95-plus with a 70 changeup, 20 control and questions about his age.
Apparently, he was also cut by Texas before last year after signing in 2013, and that’s how the Dodgers picked him up. He’s 21 as of now.
How bad must that control be for him to have two 70 pitches and still not even be close to a prospect!? I mean…jeez, I wouldn’t want to face him. Here’s what I’m picturing, basically.

There's not a question here but I'd like to remind everyone that Fran Cespedes exists.

Can D Fowler be a legit CF of the future for the Yanks?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:44
I think so, average everyday guy for me.

Are you well, Eric?

I don't know. Probably not.

By the way, here's what I'm picturing with Cespedes:

Any spoilers for the reds forthcoming list?

Shed Long might sneak onto the back of my overall top 100
I'm as surprised as you.

Do you usually attend the UA All American Game in Chicago? If so, any thoughts on doing some sort of meetup?
Eric A Longenhagen

I went this year and hope to go again this summer. I'll give the latter some thought I suppose but those events are important to be focused for.

Why is having a deep system better than a top heavy one? Wouldnt you rather have 2 potential 5+ WAR players and nothing else than say 5-6 2 WAR players? Love your work!
Eric A Longenhagen

Your risk is diversified.

What's the scouting report on the Cuban Luis Robert?
Eric A Longenhagen
Saw him this summer. He's really good. Power/speed.

Does Willians Astudillo have a chance to be anything more than a back-up catcher?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:53
Nah, he's an org player.

I've seen you dismiss Dom Smith's weight before, but how many players of his body type (obese) have had sustained ML careers? Bottom line - there is a good reason to be concerned.
Eric A Longenhagen
1:55
I certainly take Smith's body into consideration when evaluating him but I think he can succeed with a little extra. He's supposedly lost weight, which I guess speaks to his makeup more than anything else.

Who do you think is the most divisive prospect in the minors right now?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:55
During my list-making process it has been Ryyan Castellani

Mike Gerber hit enough to avoid platoon? 270/340/440 20+?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:55
No but he might play good enough defense to avoid a platoon.

Sergio Alcantara (ARI) is having a nice winter season... impressive glove he's shown. Looks like all leather right now. What do yo see from him going forward (FV)?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:57
35/40. 7 arm, can run, not much else going on there.

Do you do any fantasy baseball? If so, are you more geared towards prospects because of your focus here at FG, or less so because you understand their risk more so than most?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:57
I don't play fantasy anymore, just in one Diamond Mind league.
