I was intrigued by this report on a low-minors Dodgers arm:
Francis Cespedes, LHP (video) – Extremely loose lefty who touches 100 and sits 95-plus with a 70 changeup, 20 control and questions about his age.
Apparently, he was also cut by Texas before last year after signing in 2013, and that’s how the Dodgers picked him up. He’s 21 as of now.
How bad must that control be for him to have two 70 pitches and still not even be close to a prospect!? I mean…jeez, I wouldn’t want to face him. Here’s what I’m picturing, basically.

I've seen you dismiss Dom Smith's weight before, but how many players of his body type (obese) have had sustained ML careers? Bottom line - there is a good reason to be concerned.

I certainly take Smith's body into consideration when evaluating him but I think he can succeed with a little extra. He's supposedly lost weight, which I guess speaks to his makeup more than anything else.
