What do you think of Domingo German? To me, he looks like he should get a chance to start. Do you think he'll get the chance? And will he perform well?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:19
Bullpen for me. That staff is already a little bit backlogged and German has dealt with control and injury issues.

With the Red Sox signing MM...what is the outlook for Sam Travis?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:20
I've never been a big Travis guy. I have Chavis ahead of him at 1B now.
Tom
12:20
I just want to say, I am thrilled that you and Kiley will be teaming up.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:21
Me too.

What are the odds we see a weekly Eric & Kiley podcast?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:21
High

12:21
What tier of prospect would McCutchen bring? Thanks for the chat.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:22
I'm still a Cutch fan but think he needs to move to a corner. I'd be asking for a 50 FV guy for him.

12:22
Considering that he kind of came out of nowhere in the last year or so, would it be ambitious to put a 60 on Michel Baez's future command?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:22
Nah, I think that's reasonable.
Juan
12:22
I believe last year you wrote up Grant Holmes as a 45. Has his projection changed at all? Thanks!
Eric A Longenhagen
12:23
Probably the same. Still think there's real risk he's a reliever but he was near the top of his level's K leaderboard and has always had good stuff, so even if he's a relief piece he's probably a good one.

How worried should we be about Estevan Florial's hitting ability? Has he shown flashes of being a plus hitter or is the hope that he will be merely average
Eric A Longenhagen
12:24
I have serious doubts about his ability to hit based on how he looked in Fall League.

When velocity bumps happen out of nowhere, what do you think is the most common reason?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:24
Some combination of physical maturation and player development, the latter of which is increasingly using weighted ball training
Manuel A. Machado
12:25
Would the Cards be giving up too much to trade Weaver and Flaherty for a year of my services?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:27
If I know it's just the one year, yeah that's a lot. But if I get an extension done? Sold. I know that's not how it works from a value/asset analysis perspective blah blah blah. I want a ring, I'm chasing your ass with everything I've got and convincing you to sign long term.

12:27
Mitch White? Aww yeah?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:27
Topped out at 92 for me during instructional league.

12:27
Does next year's June draft class still look deep at the very top?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:27
Think the top of the class is about average. Think the depth is in high school pitching, guys who have top 3 round grades lasting into the 5th.

12:28
assuming everything else is the same would you rather have a pitcher with a 60 fastball 60 curve 60 change or 70 fastball 60 curve 50 change
Eric A Longenhagen
12:28
Depends on how 'everything else' grades out. Plus command? Give me the guy with the 6 change. fringe command? I'll take the better fastball.

I'm so happy that Kiley is back, not least because I'm hoping it will help you maintain sanity as you slog through these lists.  Having my two favorite prospect analysis under the same roof is pretty flipping fantastic.  How (if at all) will your process for constructing a list change now that you can tap Kiley?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:32
Our methods of gathering info about players might be a little different and we'll probably have to formally synchronize our 20-80 watches at some point, but we line up guys in the same way: Project to a reasonably optimistic outcome for the player, see what kind of baseball value that player has on paper compared big league average, dilute the grade for risk if necessary.

Estevan Florial, Yordan Alvarez, or Jesus Sanchez: who do you prefer, and why?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:33
Sanchez. Best defender in that group and chance for hit and power whereas Alvarez may not hit for big pop in games.

12:33
Can you provide some detail about Aramis Garcia's defense? Reports on him are all over the place, I've never seen so much variance between evaluators on one player.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:34
It wasn't good in AFL so for now that's where I have it evaluated, but remember catcher defense in the AFL is tough because the guys are exhausted, catching all new pitchers, etc.

12:35
brusdar graterol thoughts?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:37
Special arm. 97-100 in short bursts, 93-98 during starts without much movement, average cutter/slider in the upper-80s. Generates the velo pretty easily, an impressive physical specimen and athlete. Has had a surgery already.
Rollie's Mustache
12:38
Which pitcher in the Jays' system has the best chance to stick in a major league rotation long-term? And who's the highest reward/ceiling guy in your estimation?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:38
Zeuch has the most probability, Pearson the most upside if the command comes.
Zach
12:40
If you were the Pirates, who would you target in the Yankees system for Cole?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:42
It's a long list. Assuming they won't part with Torres, I'd be asking for some combination of Sheffield, Abreu, Perez, Medina and I think PIT would be on Nolan Martinez as their type of body/spin rate throw-in.
Jarrett
12:42
Is Dennis Santana purely a future reliever for you, or do you think he has a chance to start in the bigs?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:42
Have him projected in relief
