I never understood how a player can go from a 10-15 HR pace in the high minors to a 25-30 HR as a rookie in the Majors. Is it easier to hit for power in the Majors?

I did a random search a week or two ago and surprisingly discovered that Grant Desme is apparently playing pro ball again. Any thoughts? Is there any chance that this turns into the Kirk Cameron directed version of "The Rookie" or is this just a 32 year old guy having some fun? I figure best of luck to the guy either way,  but I'd love to know what led him back to playing.
