so when draft season is over, will organizations start releasing players they dont think will cut it?
Kevin Goldstein
9:37
After signing season, yes.
Pat

Is there a lot of reliever risk for Wicks? Or is he likely to end up a starter?
Kevin Goldstein
9:37
Starter package for me.

Biggest surprise selection so far? Biggest surprise non-selection so far?

Hanging out, eating well, watching the draft, pulling magnets.

Pirate fan here - if Davis washes out as a C, is his bat going to let him be a regular anywhere else?  If so, where?
Kevin Goldstein
9:39
Yes. Corner OF or 1B.
David
9:39
how different is draft evaluation for most organizations today vs 3/5/10 years ago?
Kevin Goldstein
9:39
A little different/very different/INSANELY DIFFERENT.

Any chance CLE takes Madden? Please say yes
Kevin Goldstein
9:39
We're hearing that if they take a college arm it will be Gavin Willaims.

How much trying to predict the rest of the round for the teams without picks left? Or is it more read-react starting tomorrow
Kevin Goldstein
9:40
Read/react.
Bill

Favorite pick of the draft thus far?  It doesn't necessarily have to be what you think the best value is...
Kevin Goldstein
9:40
We'll have a wrap up tomorrow.

With the way this board is shaking out I could see Madden at 24 to ATL
Are teams really not sure of their board right now or are the sources for any given team just all over the place?
Eric A Longenhagen
9:42
eh, approach angle piece isn't there, they're very data heavy
Kevin Goldstein
9:42
It hard to nail down some teams.
Max
9:42
Who do you both see as the hardest sign so far?
Kevin Goldstein
9:42
The best bet is that they'll all sign and have already agreed upon a number.

Any insight on why Madden is falling? Is there a makeup thing, or at this point maybe signability concern?
Kevin Goldstein
9:43
Teams are mixed on his pitch data, but I think he's among the steals of the draft at this point.
JD
9:43
are you surprised Gunnar Hoglund slipped to the Jays?
Kevin Goldstein
9:43
Not really, Was always seen as 12-20 range.
Ross
9:43
Not sure I love the upside on Wicks; is there more meat on the bone?  Or is his real value in his safety?
Kevin Goldstein
9:43
Good pick at 21.
Billy G
9:43
How do teams model high schoolers? Like what data is even available to use? Is any of that data public?
Kevin Goldstein
9:44
Tons of data from summer events.
Eric A Longenhagen
9:44
lefties with cambios like that typically do well (regarding wicks)

Any idea who the Twins are looking at?
Eric A Longenhagen
9:44
maybe Jay Allen? Maybe Joe Mack? Maybe  prep arm? They're tough to peg right now

Re: "they'll all sign." We're not so far from the days of non-signs like Aaron Crow and Mark Appel. What happened? Has there been a big change in how FOs approach signing and negotiating? Would a Crow situation basically not happen now?
Kevin Goldstein
9:45
Crow was a different world. Appel to PIT was a bluff called and failed.
