How is Kluber the opening day starter for anyone?
Kyle Kishimoto
4:41
To be fair he had a 3 win 2022

They don't call him Scoopin Hosmer for nothing
Scoops
And
BARRELS
Ben Clemens
4:41
Kluber is not the worst opening day starter
Blake Seams

I'm so excited to see the Stros kick things off tonight. Sometimes I don't know how anyone ever hits Bryan Abreu. That slider is absolutely gross. Plus I get to watch Dubon hit. So that's... cool...
Kyle Kishimoto
4:42
If he walks less than 12% of batters he'll be one of the best relievers in baseball
Ben Clemens
4:42
Bo Bichete? Bo Bichette?!?! Where?
(did that throw go)

My favorite thing about Manoah is how quickly he went from being drafted to being an all star caliber starter. I think we're all aware that he's likely not going to repeat what he did last season, but the fact that we're having that conversation about a guy who pitched like 40 MiLB innings and has a season and a half in the show is pretty cool
Chip Locke

Manoah just given the "effectively wild" descriptor by Cards booth. Someone tell Lindbergh
Leo Morgenstern
4:42
Interesting, I wouldn't call Manoah wild
Vin
4:42
Bo Bichette with his first "Oh, Bichette" of the season
B'ryce Szymbobski
4:43
Laes Nootbar looks way taller than I imagined
Ben Clemens
4:43
He's sneakily big, it was always confusing that he didnt' hit for power

Back-to-back triples vs. deGrom
Leo Morgenstern
4:44
The Trea Turner experience is off to a good start

Are more runs scored on opening day than a random day in April? Better pitching but more games than average I assume.
Ben Clemens
4:44
My guess is more but fewer runs per game
Shirtless George Brett
4:44
Greinke is calling his own game with pitch com. It feels like this should be more of a thing for no other reason than speeding up the game.
Kyle Kishimoto
4:44
You could also simply.be like mark Buehrle and never shake off the catcher
Ben Clemens
4:45
Greinke has already shaken himself off once
(in spring training)

Manoah leads the league in HBP, so it's easy to call him that even though it's b/c he'll challenge up and in and not just being super wild
5 Run Homer
4:45
deGrom is having a very strange debut
Birds
4:46
Which is more likely - steal rate increases through the season as teams realize how much easier it is, or steal rate decreases through the season as teams adapt to counter it?
Ben Clemens
4:46
Oh, fun question
4:47
I think decreases is more likely but I do not have strong conviction
ryan
4:47
Baumann is going to be right with his prediciton about deGrom vs. Lynn, not because deGrom is hurt, but because He's Cooked
Ben Clemens
4:47
This is the least likely prediction we could have made.
Leo Morgenstern
4:47
Fun to see a run-scoring double play sac fly in Mets/Marlins
Birds
4:47
Devers called out on an automatic third strike!
Leo Morgenstern
4:48
Pitch clock violation on deGrom?
what just happened?
Derek
4:49
there's a pitchcom thing happening with DeGrom right now
Morbo
4:49
Devers probably should have been paying attention
Ben Clemens
4:49
Jordan Walker is going to get an insane ovation given how big of one Contreras got
Birds
4:50
I just realized I bet automatic strikes become way more common in late innings of uncompetitive games
