5 Run Homer

Maybe it’s just the fun game today, but am I crazy for thinking the Cards might be pretty frisky this year? Pitching is uninspiring but if wouldn’t take much to make this a pretty interesting lineup

I mean, the pitching's bad. The hitting could be good. I think the floor is higher than people are giving them credit for

Eric, any chance you have a scoop on why Yunior Tur didn't pitch at all this spring? Is he hurt?
Eric A Longenhagen

Saw him twice on the backfields, looked fine. Ideal build, big velo, big vertical mvmt, below average breaking stuff.
7:01
Don't know why they decided not to do him in a big league game at all
Ben Clemens

Alright guys, it's been fun watching this batch of games with everyone, but I'm gonna head out. We've got baseball news to cover, and I also need to eat a little food before I sit back down for another three hours on the couch

I am hearing from HQ that we should end the chat at the conclusion of Cardinals/Rays

Even though i'm properly excited for the Major League season, as a Twins fan who lives in St Paul I am VERY excited about watching the prospects in AAA. This is probably a mailbag question for the prospect guys, but would love a top 10ish ranking of most exciting minor league rosters to watch this season (at least to start, obviously there will be movement).

Fresno, Biloxi, Arkansas...
7:05
Josuar and Luis Hernandez might both be on the same roster in short order. Josuar had a hammy tweak last week

Do we now have to admit that Trevor Rogers is just a legitimately great pitcher at this point?

I think it's fascinating that Miami has semed good at developing arms but couldn't coax this out of him.
Like this is a huge gap in where he was at

I just got home from work--have been people been having as much trouble keeping track of the rules all day as Gomez is having right now?

I have Mariners over Dodgers in the WS. I don’t have my Rangers making it unfortunately.

Just for what it's worth as someone who watched a lot of the Marlins...his first year he had a bereavement leave and after that he became something of a headcase, not in a like bad dude way but the body language was often notably poor. Anecdotally it seemed like he just always was due for a total meltdown inning specifically, not that he was like completely lost. There was a profile in Baltimore about improving not just lower half but also mental state/confidence. I think he needed a change of scenery

Makes sense, I remember talk about this kind of thing right after he was drafted, struggled fitting in with teammates, missed the gf, stuff like that.
Pretty natural progression for some of us. The best was Jhoan Duran asking to be demoted from the northwest league to see his gf.

You are offered the ability to watch all games for the rest of your life BUT the commentators for all the games consist of a 3 person panel of only Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, and whoever is your oldest relative who doesn't watch baseball. Do you take it?
Eric A Longenhagen
7:11
Nah, I'm already packing in basically all the games I can handle.
7:13
I'd be more open to the reverse, which is capping what I can watch but ensuring I don't hear Smoltz. That Smoltz's voice runs through an AI filter that makes him sound like Whitey Ashburn or something

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone blend their eye black into their beard like Yandy does

See that spring training homer gave Simpson a taste for the launch angle revolution. Uh oh

Gotta handle him with care, I'm going first pitch split
