It's frustrating when you've matured and become patient with your players to let things play out for the first couple of weeks before making adjustments, but your league mates are making moves left and right. Or, this just means I draft well?
Paul Swydan
9:43
Let's go with the latter.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:43
I find it a great time to pounce on players they shouldn't drop, but do because of slow starts

Fun Factoid of the Day:

Jon Niese has had a higher BB% as a hitter than he has allowed as a pitcher every season this decade.
Paul Swydan
9:44
I enjoyed this stat.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:44
That is a good one
BRB, I may be getting hail and want to see it.

tz is one of my favorite FanGraphs/THT users btw. You should all be like tz.
Yep

Glasnow today, 6IP 2H 0R 1BB 11K 3GO-1FO, apparently threw his changeup ~15 times and got the 3 GO that way. How much longer will they let him marinate? Obviously they want him to continue to work on his change because his other two pitches are already + or ++, but how many starts does that typically take?
Paul Swydan
9:46
This was his 12th Triple-A start. It'd be hard to say he needs much more than that. I think it may happen at the next injury, but the Pirates might hold him down through the Super 2 deadline because they're cheap. We'll see.

Do we stash Urias for the season? Is he a long term stud?
Paul Swydan
9:47
Yes he is. Whether your stash him depends on your league rules and roster situation, but if you can, then do it.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:47
Yes and yes. I kind of need him to play some in Tout Wars

Should I finish this pint of Haagen-Dazs (java chip)? Side note: Haagen-Dazs is a made up German sounding name.
Paul Swydan
9:48
Yes, yes you should. Good to know on the name. They picked a good made up name for sure.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:48
Depends if you can get to the store for more tomorrow
Paul Swydan
9:48
How does Nick Markakis have a job? Goodness, he is terrible at defense.
F. Underwood

What's a good nonfiction baseball book to jump into?
Paul Swydan
9:50
Depends on your tastes. If you want something narrative, go with something like "The Teammates" or the new Miller/Lindbergh book that drops next week. If you want something informational, Jeff Passan's new book is good. If you want something technical, then something like "The Book."
Jeff Zimmerman
9:50
I have liked The Arm, but little technical

Is there anything more annoying than announcers going nuts for a "great catch" when it was really just a bad read? (relatively speaking)
Paul Swydan
9:50
There are definitely lots of things more annoying than this, but I feel your pain nonetheless.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:51
Agree

Have we reached a point where rushing Cubab players to the majors is going to be stopped? Sure , Abreu has been great, but Puig has underachieved (relative to expectations) and Castillo, Alexi Ramirez, Soler, Tomas have all had a really rough go of it. I have to say I am approving of the slow play on Moncada.
Paul Swydan
9:52
Well but these are not apples to apples comparisons. Moncada is young. Those other guys weren't of the age when you would expect them to log minor league time.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:53
I think they will start getting more and more minor league time.
Paul Swydan
9:53
Also, Puig spent time in the minors, and has already been worth 11.7 WAR on a $42 million contract. If he never plays again, the Dodgers most certainly got their money's worth.

Soler seems to be making adjustments, at least slightly. Holding out hope that he gets it together?
Paul Swydan
9:54
Holding out plenty of hope, yes.
Jeff Zimmerman
9:54
There is an article for you Paul, are Cuban players worth it.
9:55
Yep, holding out
Paul Swydan
9:55
I feel like that's tough to discern though. Given what these guys have gone through just to make it to the States, I'm not comfortable sitting in judgment of any of their baseball skills.
9:56
I also think we're painting with too broad a brush there. Abreu has been good. And Alexei Ramirez has been worth 19 WAR.
Dizzy Trout!
9:56
Drink some espresso! I just had some and your sunday driver chat pace is driving me LOCO!!!! ARRIBA!!! RAPIDOO!!!! Ok maybe I need less espresso
Paul Swydan
9:57
Sorry dude, distracted by the C's tonight. Oh, and the TORNADO near Jeff's house. Gheesh.

9:57
Carlos Gomez worth keeping? I mean it's early but woof
Jeff Zimmerman
9:57
We only have hail and flooding now
Paul Swydan
9:57
My bad, just hail and flooding, no biggie!
I could see selling on Gomez.
9:58
Though you won't get much for him.
