Go get 'em next time, Hunter.  Of course, Greinke is unlikely to be out there next time.

Dodgers fan leaving in the 8th inning of an NLCS game 3 like they HAVE won a world series in the past 12 months.

Paul Sporer

Yes

dodger fans already heading for freeway

Don’t underestimate how hard it is to get out of Chavez Ravine
Roach
8:38
No need to expose Jansen and Treinen more than you already have.
Underwater Johnson

Well, Bregman's bad throw kept that inning going and cost Greinke 10 or 15 pitches...
Paul Sporer
8:38
Ooh I missed that letting the dogs out
Mateo
8:39
the real question is whether agents have agents to negotiate their contracts?
Paul Sporer

If these two series only go 9 games-- which seems very possible if not likely-- will produce the most unlikely WS-- in terms of how it happened-- in a long long time
Luke Hooper
8:42
We might not have weekend baseball...

How often does a team in a post-season series win the run differential but lose the series?
Luke Hooper
8:43
I don't have this answer but I don't think it's all that rare. I will look into this more.

oh god, this is finally gonna be the game will smith blows isn’t it

Did any Fangraphs writers have the Red Sox or Braves in the World Series?
Luke Hooper
8:44
No one had either them in the world series. Either of them!

I remember watching the night Acuna got hurt, feared it was an ACL, and all but wrote off the Braves in 2021.
Paul Sporer

No matter how many times we see a best player's injury NOT end a team's season, we still can't help but feel that way

Only 2 of 28(?) had the Braves beating Milwaukee
Luke Hooper

Don't come to us for predictions!
Paul Sporer

I think we're at a point where we don't dismiss a team for NOT having a great rotation, but we still overrate teams that have it as if it will fix all
Roach

There's the infamous Yankees-Pirates World Series where the Yankees outscored the Pirates by a factor of 2 but lost.
John Thacker
8:46
It's not that rare. In 1996 the Braves even outscored the Yankees 26-18 despite losing in six games.

The Mazeroski series is famous for being an extreme case of runs vs. wins--maybe the record, I vaguely remember?

I never thought I'd be rooting for 'stros just to have some weekend baseball, but here we are

I miss Kershaw

Does anyone know what's going on with Justin Turner? He went from hitting a home-run against Adam Wainwright to being a goose egg against the Giants and Braves. Is there something the pitchers have been exploiting against him?
Farhandrew Zaidman

JT seems just a liiiiitle late on everything.
Underwater Johnson

I had the Red Sox in the WS.  I have a William Hill 30:1 ticket to prove it.  I really liked Chaim's off-season.
Pivetta not sharp so far

To be fair, the Milwaukee pitchers did their job. The batters just couldn't score. And almost all Braves fans thought the Dodgers would take out the Braves
Paul Sporer
8:48
That's what I mean by it doesn't fix all. they couldn't will runs across for the Brewers no matter how well they pitched
Russ

I was having a great night until T said that.
