Is the deal to add playoff teams further incentive for clubs to hold down younger players (now that the 60 games don't really matter)? did the players do it for more playoff shares and no concern for other consequences (and are they likely to agree to it down the line)?

My take is that after the deal to start the season was agreed, the owners called the players and were like 'hey guys, expanded playoffs?'
