Within reason. The fewer relievers you have to burn that won't be available tomorrow the better.
That's yet another reason a mercy rule is dumb is that in a multigame series, what happens here in this protracted garbage time has an impact on pitcher availability going forward. The Astros can force the Red Sox to burn somebody important if they work at it enough.

Dan, rate my grandmother's chili recipe:
  • 3 lbs chuck or rump roast, cubed;
  • 4 cloves garlic;
  • 2 tsp salt;
  • 1 tsp pepper,
  • 4-6 tbs chili powder;
  • 8 tbs Maseca;
  • 6 cups chicken broth;
  • 2 tbs vinegar;
  • dried chiles to taste
Cook until meat is dissolved.
