Brad Johnson
12:11
Hey folks, sorry for the delay, slight technical difficulties.
Steve Adams
12:12
That's my fault! Apologies to Brad and to all of you folks. Take it away, Brad :)
Brad Johnson
12:12
We'll get started now. First, I should note that I'm just a tad out of touch. Went on what was meant to be a working vacation and forgot my laptop power chord.
12:13
So I'll probably be a little slower in my replies as I double check certain details.
On that not, let's get moving

whats Juan Soto trade value in fantasy? Dylan Cease, Jon Gray and Blake Snell? Is that to little? Trying desperately to acquire him but he seems to want way more than I think he’s worth.
Brad Johnson
12:14
Yea, that's not doing it for me, though I could see certain circumstances where it could work. i.e. you desperately need volume.
12:15
Generally, I'd want an even higher quality SP than Cease as the main piece.

Finnegan or Munoz?   Munoz would help in strikeouts,  era and whip….  Finnegan would give me a few saves.
Brad Johnson
12:16
Well, Finnegan is extremely bland besides those few saves. Basically hurts 3 categories. So, do you have some room to give in those or do you need to protect ratios and chase Ks?
I generally find I need bulk categories more than a dozen saves.
Brads Hands

Max Meyer worth picking up?
Brad Johnson
12:16
Worth a flier. Risk of short outings and the usual new-pitcher hiccups.
12:17
He's basically a two-pitch guy so I'd expect volatility similar to Hunter Greene.
Tim
12:17
Jon Berti - mlb stolen base leader.   Hold or grab a player like Verdugo?
Brad Johnson
12:17
If you've been using him, you probably have some nice padding in SBs but need HR. Verdugo wouldn't be the man to target in that case.
12:18
But if the categories you need align with Verdugo, yes, that's fine. Now is a good time to sell Berti if you've banked those SBs.

Time to add me in single season formats?
Brad Johnson
12:18
Might be premature in anything 14-team and under.
12:19
He's probably going to be a short-burst guy. Maybe 20 batters a start at the most. He's a little more interesting if he bulk relieves, but I don't think he will.
He's purely a K/9 play for me.
Tim
12:20
Will Jared Walsh turn things around?
Brad Johnson
12:20
Yeah... so power's a funny thing
12:21
Every year, there are a few guys who are perfectly themselves but really underperform. I don't see anything "wrong" with Walsh. His ISO is just really low for him. And that's a stat which can err more than 100 points in either direction over ~350 PA.
12:22
In short, I'm not at all concerned about Walsh's performance to date. I think he's himself.
Tyler
12:22
you like rojas or Estrada better? Both guys have great positional flexibility and can steal a base
Brad Johnson
12:22
Estrada has a little more to him in terms of power, lineup role, and supporting cast.
The Ghostly Trio
12:23
How much longer until Martin Perez turns back into a pumpkin?
Brad Johnson
12:23
Depends on what you define as pumpkin. Since June 11, he has a 4.54 ERA in 7 starts.
12:24
The Rangers really run him out there to soak up innings. He has to be top 3 in batters faced per game.
His home run rate and BABIPs are back to normal too (in recent games)
12:25
So yeah, I think he's pumpkin-ized as a ~4.50 ERA guy. Right where he's been since start of 2020.

Is it time to find a buyer for Taylor Rogers or Josh Hader?
Brad Johnson
12:25
Might have missed the boat on Rogers. And I'd hold Hader. He's still the best closer in baseball.
12:26
By all means, see if someone will offer stats you need more than saves - especially if you have a healthy cushion
Which seems likely if you have Rogers and Hader on the same roster.
Kenny

Scraping the bottom of the barrel for a bench OF for spot starts and injury cover in Ottoneu FGpts.  Anyone you like between Tyrone Taylor, Leody Taveras, Jake Meyers, Aaron Hicks, Austin Slater, Skye Bolt, Kyle Isbel?  Thanks!
Brad Johnson
12:27
Hicks and Meyers are the ones I'd try for instant gratification. I do like Taylor too. Isbel has some really nice peripherals under those lousy surface stats.

12:28
Does Finnegan actually get any saves now that he has been anointed as the closer or is Garcia in LA a better bet for putting up numbers in an NL 5x5?
Brad Johnson
12:29
Finnegan should get saves. It's just that his ratios will be fantasy average at best.
