H2H 12 team league. Should I overpay to get Montas with him likely going to a contender now?

I generally don't advise overpaying, and I don't exactly love Montas in fantasy. I'm wary of splitter specialists this year because Manfred keeps being cagey about the baseballs. If they introduce a different ball (I think the next manufacturing batch is expected to start arriving if it hasn't already) or something pretacked shows up, Montas might lose his splitter.

Honestly, what I've observed is that better leagues tend to equal less trading.

It's kind of a function of foresight almost. If you've anticipated your needs, then you're less likely to be interested in fair swaps. Whereas if you need something badly, you'll be willing to overpay to get it.

Anyway, I'd pick a site you like and get involved in their communities. You'll find your way to competitive leagues quick enough - I just can't promise you'll see more trades as a result.

Certain anxious about acquiring him now. Had a couple verbal offers out in dynasty leagues when he was just normal injured. We're kinda frozen right now - neither of us know if we should jump in or out.

Tanner Houck... what is his value going forward?

Not very high, but he's still positioned to pick up some saves. My guess is one of Whitlock or Houck winds up starting again at some point down the stretch.

You mean in drafts or EOS ranking? I think he's still a Top 30 pick if only because it's hard to replicate his production. He's starting to feel a little like Buxton where you accept the good and plan for the bad.

Less confident he'll personally have a Top 30 EOS ranking, if only because that's hard to do without playing a full season. But you have to consider what he plus a replacement player will accomplish. So, my very early impression is he'll be worth the high draft pick.

Has this season soured you at all on Wander Franco's longterm outlook? I'm in a keeper league and keep either Franco or Corbin Carroll. I'm starting to lean Carroll...is that crazy?

I don't think it's crazy to prefer Carroll in fantasy. IRL, yeah, you'd be crazy.

Carroll looks like a fantasy monster in the making even if he's just a normal star in reality.

Franco still needs to make several adjustments to become a top hitter. For now, he's just highly competent.

Do you have even a bit of hope for Adell at this point? By all accounts he just can’t catch up with MLB velocity.

I'm honestly not too worried. We've seen him handle MLB velocity before for brief periods. He's needed time to adjust to just about every level he's played.

The worst thing the Angels could do is continue to jerk around his playing time. Triple-A to MLB is the biggest level jump in pro ball. It stands to reason he may need a season or more of continued reps in order to actualize.
