Brad Johnson
12:02
Hey folks, we'll get going in a minute... Just finishing up some lineups real fast.
Jake
12:04
Byron Buxton or Ketel Marte ROS?
Brad Johnson
12:05
I'd gamble on Buxton since he's such a power threat. But this question really comes down to team need since they represent such different statistical profiles.
It does seem Marte's hamstring is going to be an issue until at least the offseason. So I wouldn't even say that Buxton is the greater injury risk.

I have Aaron Judge. I also need more home runs. Can you envision a trade of Judge where I end up with more dingers?
Brad Johnson
12:06
Oof, that's pretty tricky
12:07
So, ignoring his calf for a moment, if you start an offer with Kyle Schwarber, you have a chance.
The other top sluggers offer too much in other categories. Maybe Anthony Rizzo is an exception to that statement.
12:08
So yea, I feel like Schwarber+Rizzo for Judge is a roughly fair trade and you'd have +8 projected HR or so.
How many HR do you need though? Because most trades aren't going to net you more than a handful.

For those of us in dynasty leagues, who are some SP prospects that might get called up soon and stick in the rotation next season?
Brad Johnson
12:10
Ken Waldichuk, Hayden Wesneski, DL Hall (as a RP), Caleb Kilian, Brayan Bello maybe...
There really isn't a lot out there
The Final Boss
12:10
Josh Jung ready to come up and start mashing?
Brad Johnson
12:10
I think it's getting pretty close to time.
12:11
He has over 50 rehab plate appearances, and he's mashing. The last 23 of those have come in Triple-A. He was on the cusp of making the club out of Spring Training, and he's old enough that service games won't buy the Rangers much in terms of expected future value.

thoughts on Joey Meneses for the playoff push?
Brad Johnson
12:12
Yes, he's a poor man's C.J. Cron.
In 12-team mixed, he's basically a streamer+ meaning you can try to stream him but there's a chance someone will eventually sit on him
12:13
At the same time, you probably don't need to kick yourself if you've already missed out - you just might have to work the wire a little harder.

12:13
This is for 2023.  Should I take Gunnar early given his age and AAA output?
Brad Johnson
12:14
Gunnar will be especially valuable in OBP formats, but I'm not so sure I project huge fantasy impact in 2023. Especially for AVG leagues where his average might sit in the .230-.240 range. He also made incredible adjustments over the winter, and there's a chance he does so again to get his strikeouts back under control.

12:14
Thoughts on possible fantasy impact of Aaron Ashby and Roansy Contreras in 2023?
Brad Johnson
12:15
Should be large?
Contreras will still have to deal with lousy run support, and the Pirates will be tempted to baby him again since the season won't mean anything
Ashby needs to find some consistency which can be challenging for pitchers of his profile
12:16
Think of OG Framber Valdez before his breakout
Yanky my wanky
12:16
Has Matt Carpenter shown enough of a resurgence to make the Yankees think of him as a possibility for next year? His numbers have been great and the defensive versatility is an added bonus.
Brad Johnson
12:17
I dunno about the Yankees specifically, but Carpenter will be starting for somebody in 2023. And he'll be fantasy relevant again - though in a "was that a dead cat bounce" kind of way.

Thank you for doing this, Brad!

Do you think we’re seeing the coming out of Vinnie Pasquantino?
Brad Johnson
12:17
Yes, Pasquantino is a very good hitter. Do not quit on him.
Keepers
12:17
With deGrom being my obvious first keeper who should be the second out of Goldschmidt (6th round), Anderson (4th round), and Trout (1st round)? Trout seems like the obvious answer, but with his injury that brings up doubt. We lose our pick for the round after they were picked.
Brad Johnson
12:19
I like to push most keeper decisions into the offseason. If I had to decide today, I might be tempted to tab Trout and Goldy over deGrom. But, by November, we'll know a little more about deGrom's health which will obviously impact that choice (plus, whatever round he corresponds to might be relevant). We'll also know how Trout responded to his injury since it looks like he'll be back soon.

12:19
What do you expect from Harper when he returns? Would you play him over Ward and Pham?
Brad Johnson
12:20
Thumb injuries usually sap power, but I imagine he'll still be a better play than Ward and Pham.
fwiw, since missing a few days in late-May, Ward is hitting .216/.291/.335
12:21
Pham, at least, might be on the uptick (and even Ward has done well this month)

I have the first pick next year in a 6x6 roto ops league: should I go Soto, Acuna, Tatis, or Betts?
