Polanco

The dropoff for Jorge Polanco from Mar/Apr to May has been severe (wRC+ 251 to 26; OPS 1.226 to .420; ISO .425 to .076; etc). Wondering if something's changed in his swing or how he's being pitched or if this is just what life is now...

.339 BABIP in April
.155 in May
.125 so far in June
11:22
He's still hitting the ball harder than he has before but is pounding it into the ground
He wasn't as good as he was in April but not as bad as he's been lately.
11:23
Unfortunately, when you're not playing vs LHP, bad streaks like this amplify the fantasy hurt

My team is in second in a 5x5 roto, but steals are the weak point. So: 1) the projection systems all have Acuna stealing 20+ bases but he hasn’t even attempted one so far thus - Is 20+ steals a pipe -dream at this point?; 2) can you rank Butler, Doyle, L. Robert, V. Scott, D. Crews if you are looking at it from a steals-needy perspective?; and 3) any speed OF out there who should be on the wire? Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:25
I don't think it's a pipe dream but also think projections calling for 25+ is a pretty big stretch.
11:26
If you made me, I'd take the over on 20 but think it's more likely to be right around there
and this is coming from long-time Acuna sycophant, Nicklaus P. Gaut
Out of the others

Robert Jr. >>>Doyle > Crews/Scott/Butler

Are the Tigers concerned at this point with Tyler Holton's performance? He hasn't pitched well in his last few outings and doesn't look like the "Rock" on the lefty side that he has been the last couple of seasons.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:28
I don't think they're overly concerned -- nice clean 1.2 IP bounceback yesterday
11:29
Granted, it was against the White Sox, so his stats are depreciated by 19.7%
11:31
I never actually answered the question about Chandler Simpson -- I wouldn't drop him until your roster absolutely forces you too.
Too much of a gamechanger in an only-league

What do the Mets do with Frankie Montas when they activate him? Seems like a lot of money to pay for a long reliever, but I think that's the best role for him at the moment. If he pitches well and/or 6th starter Paul Blackburn does not, you can always swap their roles.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:33
They should make him a long reliever, but as you said, the money makes it more likely they'll jam him in again as a starter
11:34
At which point, he will will get shelled (because he's Frankie Montas) and then made into a long-reliever and/or receiver of a phantom injury
What they should actually do is give him the cash they owe him, strap a rocket to his back and launch him into the Hudson

How much more patient should we try to be with Doyle at this point?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:36
It's the classic COL conundrum - terrible on the road, awesome at home
kind of depends on if your league is daily/weekly and if you have the roster flexibiltiy to move him in and out.
For example, you simply have to avoid starting him vs RHPs on the road.
11:37
Shockingly bad
Super two deadline.
11:38
Do you think we have a good shot at seeing Roman Anthony and Bubba Chandler next week? I don't have it down to a science, but isn't the super two deadline usually in early June?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:39
It is but it's not really the deadline holding
Anthony back. If he had a definite spot to play every day, he'd probably be up already.
Now, what they sh-oould do is DFA Story, call up Anthony, and figure it out
but they probably won't
because inertia
11:40
Chandler should be up shortly
but I also said that last week
and the week before
11:41
Unfortunately, the Pirates remain annoying

Junior Caminero or Jazz Chisholm, 3b?
Nicklaus Gaut

Jazz if you believe he stays healthy
