Hey everyone! I’m Kyle Yates of the FantasyPros Football Podcast and can be found on Twitter @KyleYNFL. I’m here to talk some football with you guys today, so let’s have some fun! I’ll answer as many questions as I can and we’ll go for an hour or so...feel free to drop your question in at any time!
Drew, of course

What's up with Devonta Freeman? Will he ever be signed by a team?
Kyle Yates
1:02
Great question. The reason the Falcons moved on from Devonta Freeman was related to injury history and his cap hit. Devonta Freeman hasn’t played a full 16-game season since 2016 and the Falcons didn’t feel comfortable dedicating that amount of money to an injury-riddled RB. However, I still believe in his talent. Freeman’s going to have to sign to a short-term deal somewhere as part of a rotation though in order to see the field. A NFL team isn’t going to bring him in to be the starter right away. My guess would be that we see Freeman wait until after the NFL Draft to sign somewhere. A team that needed a RB, but missed out on “their guys”, could look Freeman’s way to solve their need going into the 2020 season. It's probably not going to equate to much for fantasy football though...very few spots left for these RBs.

Do you work for FantasyPros full time? If so, how/when did that happen???
Kyle Yates
1:06
I do! I just joined the team FT here back in January after an application/interview process and it's been a blast! I've jumped onto the podcast with Tags, while Bobby's been working hard on baseball stuff and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I'll be bringing Dynasty content specifically, but will also be active in redraft content throughout the year. Thanks for asking!

Hey Kyles- I'm in a bit of a QB situation. I have Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, and Nick Foles. Clearly I need a qb, I have four second round picks this year, do you think I could turn one of those into a better qb?
Kyle Yates
1:06
I’m going to assume that this is in a 1QB league. If it’s a 2QB league or SF, you’re unlikely to find anyone of worth there in the second round outside of Jake Fromm or Jordan Love. However, landing spot is huge with those guys for their fantasy value. They may not be starters right away. If you’re in dire need of adding someone though, Tua could possibly still be there in the second round of a 1QB league. Justin Herbert would be as well, but I don’t view him as a significant upgrade over the guys you have.

What's the biggest surprise you could see happening at the draft this year? Surprise picks or trades.
Kyle Yates
1:08
Over the past few years, I've learned to not be surprised at anything that happens in the NFL Draft. After the Chicago Bears traded up to take Trubisky, I've lost that ability to be shocked by a trade, selection, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Bengals stick with Andy Dalton and trade out of No. 1 overall, honestly. I don't think they should do it, but I wouldn't be shocked. Additionally, I wouldn't be shocked to see the New England Patriots fall in love with one of these QB prospects and move up from 23 overall to grab someone like Justin Herbert.

Tristan Wirfs inside the top 5? Could he really be an immediate difference-maker for the Giants?
Kyle Yates
1:10
First off, amazing username. Friends, ftw. I just released a three round mock draft today, that can be found at www.fantasypros.com, and I had Tristan Wirfs going No. 4 overall to the New York Giants. He’s a freak athlete, but is really refined as a prospect coming out. The Giants need RT help desperately and Wirfs can play all over that line. Additionally, don’t count out the Lions making a shocking pick and taking someone like Wirfs at 3 if they stay put. They’ve shown us in years past that they’re incredibly unpredictable and go against conventional thought.

Which rookie will make the greatest fantasy impact this year?
Kyle Yates
1:12
Traditionally, this answer would be a RB. Rookie RBs are able to hit the ground running, pun intended, and make an impact for fantasy football right away. This class boasts some amazing top-end talent that will certainly contribute right away with guys like Jonathan Taylor (RB - Wisconsin) and D'Andre Swift (RB - Georgia). However, if you want an instant impact player, you need to be looking at Jerry Jeudy (WR - Alabama). He's an established route-runner and excels at creating separation. He'll quickly become a QBs best friend and I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish with over 100 targets in year one.

Where do you rank Tannehill? A lock for a QB1? If low on him then doesn’t your view of AJ Brown have to be lowered too?   Thanks!
Kyle Yates
1:13
Great question! I view Tannehill as a low end QB1/high end QB2. The only thing that’s going to hold him back from being a top option is the passing volume. In 10 games that he started last year, Tannehill only threw the ball 286 times. He’s incredibly efficient, but that’s what’s going to hold him back from being a fantasy football superstar. This is the reason why AJ Brown isn’t going to be a top-5 option at WR too. Incredibly efficiency and talented, but he’s not going to see the number of targets as some of the other top guys.

Do you think hardman will get a role this season?
Kyle Yates
1:15
Mecole Hardman was drafted to be a contributor in this offense. We saw the flashes of his talent last season, but he was still raw coming out of college. An additional season in this offense should help refine his ability and he could be a great option for fantasy football! His ceiling is dependent upon Sammy Watkins though and whether or not he's on the team in 2020. If Watkins is cut or retires (like he claimed he might do), we could be talking Hardman as a WR2 option for fantasy this upcoming season.

It's super early, of course, but if you HAD to predict the player you'll have the most shares of this year (in re-draft or dynasty), who would it be?
Kyle Yates
1:17
This is a difficult one to answer. In Dynasty, I was ahead of the curve with Chris Godwin and acquired him everywhere and was highly recommending that people grab him before he broke out. So I have a lot of shares already, but I'm still going to be fine with his price tag in redraft leagues. You might have to spend a first round pick on him, but he's going to be peppered with targets in this offense with Tom Brady. He's currently listed at WR3 overall in my 2020 rankings.

Where is Cam Newton going to end up, and do you think he'll be a starter (and if so, worthy in fantasy)?
Kyle Yates
1:20
Cam Newton's so puzzling. He's an incredibly talented QB, but we haven't seen him as "Superman" for a couple years now. Injuries have taken their toll on him. With NFL facilities all being closed, they're unable to bring Newton in and do physicals to see where he's at in recovery. With that being the case, teams aren't going to hand out significant compensation to someone that they don't know their health...Newton's best move is to wait until this Covid-19 stuff blows over and he can get back into NFL facilities. A team that misses out on QB in the NFL Draft will be much more willing to look his way at that point.

Who are you higher on in dynasty formats than the general consensus, and why?
Kyle Yates
1:22
David Montgomery. People have seemingly already written him off, but he's simply going to receive too much work for him to not return value. We also need to recognize just how bad Trubisky was last season and how that played a role in what defenses were doing on the field. They weren't concerned about Trubisky and instead chose to zero in on the run game. With injuries along the offensive line, Montgomery simply didn't stand a chance. This season will be different with Nick Foles moving the offense forward and he'll have much more of an opportunity to succeed. I love him at his ADP currently in Dynasty leagues.

Which team is Jonathan Taylor’s best fit?
Kyle Yates
1:23
Tennessee is the obvious answer here. I still find it unlikely that they pay Derrick Henry big-time money, so if they don't, JT slides right in there and that offense wouldn't skip a beat. Otherwise, Buffalo is an interesting fit and would be perfect for him.

1:23
Is Joe Burrow the next Andrew Luck or is that too kind?
Kyle Yates
1:25
Joe Burrow is an insanely good prospect. We have to recognize that and acknowledge it after what he did in CFB this past season. However, I don't view Burrow as a prospect that has the ceiling of being the best QB in the NFL. There are other guys in this class that can hit that. However, Burrow has the highest floor of any prospect in this class. The popular comparison for him is Tony Romo and I love that. He's still going to be insanely good though and should be in the NFL for a very long time.

What’s are your thoughts on Brady with the Bucs
Kyle Yates
1:26
It still doesn't make perfect sense to me, but that's the NFL for you...Bruce Arians loves to air the ball out and that seems counterintuitive to use Brady in this way. At 43 years old, it's hard to see Brady throwing for 580+ times a season. However, he's going to take care of the football and that's exactly what the Bucs want after dealing with Jameis for the past 5 seasons.

Can we expect Houston to give David Johnson a big role considering what they gave up for him?
Kyle Yates
1:28
At this point, you kinda have to believe that. They still have Duke Johnson there, but he's not going to be someone who takes away a ton of work. The Texans run the ball more than people expect and DJ will get a significant workload. The question now becomes whether or not he can hold up under it or even produce at this point of his career? I'm rooting for him though.

Dynasty would you rather?   Who would you rather have? OBJ or DJ Moore and explain why and the difference of ranking/projection.   Than you Yates!
Kyle Yates
1:29
This is such a good question. As of right now, I still want OBJ, but it’s close. The Browns organization was a mess last year...and whether we want to acknowledge it or not, that stuff plays a part in what happens on the field. The Browns have invested, and will continue to invest, in resources on their offensive line and the offense should bounce back. If that happens, OBJ is a screaming value right now in Dynasty leagues. Still a top-3 talent at the position. With that being said, DJ Moore has an incredible opportunity to rack up fantasy points this year. That defense in Carolina is not great and it’s going to mean that the Panthers have to throw the ball a lot more than they want. I definitely like both of them, but prefer OBJ slightly.

In Dynasty Fantasy Football, how do you determine when it is best to take to take someone established (Robby Anderson, Diggs, Ridley) or start into the newly drafted rookies?
Kyle Yates
1:34
I really like this question. This dives into roster construction and looking ahead...playing Dynasty is like buying and selling stocks. You have to look at each individual and determine whether or not their stock is going to rise or fall within the next year or so. So these decisions have to be made on an individual player level to determine whether or not you should be holding onto Robby Anderson (just as an example) in Dynasty or trying to sell him off because you think he might be nearing the end of his career and his fantasy football value is going to fall of a cliff. Additionally, one of the worst things you can do in Dynasty is "tread water" as a franchise. If you're consistently finishing around 6-7, etc. it's time to "blow it up" and rebuild your roster. Don't continue to sit around that range and not make a play for your championship.
As for the incoming rookies, lean on the advice of fantasy experts who do this stuff like myself to tell you about the incoming players and whether or not they're going to be able to contribute for fantasy football. Then follow up again after the NFL Draft for advice on what their landing spot means...it's all part of a puzzle, but this is what makes playing Dynasty so much fun.

I have 3 first round picks in my dynasty league and two second round picks. It’s a two QB league and I just lost Winston to unemployment. I need a WR, QB, and RB. In what order should I address these in my fantasy draft?
Kyle Yates
1:37
If you're in a 1QB league, be patient on QB. Rookie QBs take a while to contribute solidly for fantasy football, so even if you draft one, there's no guarantee that he helps your team out right away. I'm a proponent of loading up on RB/WR and using those as trade leverage. With those picks, you could draft 5 great options and then use one of them as trade bait to go out and get an established QB. Rather than relying on the draft itself to fill your QB need, take a more instant impact type of player and flip him to an owner that really wanted that player. You'll get a QB that can contribute right away and maybe even a lower tier RB/WR in exchange.

Outside of the top 3 WRs, which other prospect do you think could become a star?
Kyle Yates
1:39
There's a few that are insanely good in this class. Justin Jefferson (WR - LSU) is the first one that I'm willing to bet on. He's so good. Additionally, Michael Pittman Jr. (WR - USC) has the makings of a top-tier WR for fantasy football. Keep an eye on other guys like Antonio Gandy-Golden (WR - Liberty) and Devin Duvernay (WR - Texas). All can be top contributors for fantasy football and you can get them later in your rookie drafts.
